Carbon Filter Question Phresh Vs Mountain Air? Or?

I heard a lot of good things about Phresh filters and better things about Mountain Air. My main concern is the flowering and harvest stage when the buds get really dank in most forums I see Ipower, Vivosun, and all the cheap china knockoffs don’t cut it for the flowering period and some smell still passes through. I have heard as well that Mountain Air, Phresh and Can filters have 0 smell. Anyways I need advice from people who have actually used these brands.

I have a Phresh. Works well. My advice buy a larger filter than you think you need.

also, run it slower than you think. meaning, don't run a giant fan on it full blast, the slower (to a point) the air flows through the filter, the longer the air has to react with the carbon. all filters come with a cfm rating, like 100-200 cfm, try sticking to the lower number for the reason i stated above. a lot of people run them too fast and then wonder why it's not strong enough to remove all the smell. if set up right, 1 pass should suffice.

@Lucky Luke How many grows or years before you change them? I am planning on getting an 8" fan and 8" carbon filter for a 4 x 4 and a 4 x 8 tent both connected to one filter with Y ducting.

I use Can filters, I bought a Chinese one once, never again.
Buy one bigger then you need
Buy a fan bigger then you need and put it on a controller so you can dial it in for speed, sound, smell.
I also have 2 x 8” mufflers to dampen the sound.

My flowering room is 6x15. I use a 8” fan
8” can filter (it’s about 48” long)
I picked up the can lite last time, because I hang the filter. The lite is Not just as good.
It’s good , just not as good as the red one.

Filter - fan - mufflers
I bought 1 , and was charged 65$ for shipping n when I got it had a 6” dent.
The company sent me a new one n said toss the old one.
I took off 1 flange on each, then riveted it back up. So it’s just one big one .

my room was purportedly built for sound
So the controller was enough for sound
But the muffler really helped, then doubling the size of it helped again . The loudest thing in my room is the wall fans
My veg is different tho, I put my 4” fan in a 1/2 wooden box, then stuffed the box with insulation. That really helped with sound.

My tent design would be 4 x 4 drying and veg tent sometimes and a 4 x 8 flowering tent then these would both be connected to
Hydrofarm Y Connector, 8 by 6 by 6-Inch

after the y connector to the fan then probably the 2 silencers then the filter at the end. Would this setup work?

The mufflers are designed to go at the end of the fan. But you want to end with a filter at the end, i think it’s a waste putting a muffler in front of the filter
I suck through my filter not blow.
They will work both ways, but if your blowing your not using the prefilter

I would put a filter in each tent , to your Y then fan then mufflers .

If you plan to have a continuous grow, veg n drying sharing a tent is asking for trouble.

Ok thanks for clarifying. The first grow will just be autos then the 4x4 will be for drying only :) So I can have bud right away by the second grow I will get an extra 2x2 tent for drying then turn the 4x4 into a veg tent then fill up the 4x8 into a full flowering tent plus maybe a 4x2 for a mother clone tent. But I will add each piece little by little so every component I buy can still be used. :)

I've used Phresh. They are great. Mountain air is hard to get but has 5 year warranty. Can is good.

I bought a ipower off amazon as I refill mine. I'm surprised how well ipower is working. I like how the ipower is designed. Easier to refill and you can swap the ends to make it draw air from the opposite end for longer life.

Where do you buy your activated carbon to refill it?

I looked up the ipower
I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around that it can compare to a can because ; the 10” filter is 18kgs , seams really lite duty

I'm running the 8 inch filter on a 4 inch fan with a standard 4 to 8 inch reducer from the hardware store.

I have only ever used CanFilters. I cant wrap my head around filters that you can carry in your backpack. CanFilters are heavy! the Can50 I use is 42lb just in carbon. I don't think i have ever actually depleted one fully. after a couple years or so I put it on another fan in a room where I do my joint/bowl smoking.
