(Spend money on your fans too, my iPowers last prolly 2yrs, my Ventech lasted... well, too short for me to have done anything but be angry at it, and my hydrofarms i got used, and both are still running.... IMO... thems good fans, lol.)

When you folks say "good carbon" what makes it good? Shape?

Where have you found "good" carbon?

I get "virgin coconut" activated carbon.

I bought a 50 lb bag two years ago and I still have enough left for one or two more refills.

It lasts awhile. And remember, carbon life will depend on many things like having a pre-filter and your humidity levels. No pre-filter and high humidity is going to dramatically lower your carbon life. I live in a dusty apartment and in Florida (very high humidity but I keep the a/c on all the time except in veg). My pre-filter gets pretty damn dirty after just a month.

I have a 6" iPower with a 6" iPower fan and I run two grows on fresh carbon, then flip the flange and do another grow before changing the carbon out. It can probably last a bit longer but carbon is relatively cheap peace of mind. My fan has been working for over a year so far so can't attest to the lifespan of it yet. I run it 50% - 80% speed most of the time depending if I'm in veg or flower.

Ah great info. Thx.

I am running a 4 inch vivosun. Only been 3 months so far. Hoping to get a year or 2 on it.

Woul be nice to get some reliable reviews on fans too.

This vivosun was $50 USD so i dont expect much ...

Most filters come with the CFM ratings for different uses right on the wrapping. I'm looking to get a 10" filter to go with a 6" - 400CFM fan for straight exhaust as that's what the rating is. If I used a 6" filter it would be too restrictive and the stinky air would pass thru too quickly to remove all the odor. The larger filter will last much longer too but won't fit in the oven to bake out the stink when it does wear out.
