CFL burning

Its been said before if you are burning leaves with a CFL, the close proximity of the light is doing more good than the burn does harm to the plant. For the majority of this grow I have had my 26W CFLs turned sideways so I can throw more light downward. A couple days ago (into week 3 of flowering) I turned them so they were hanging straight down.

I vegged for 3 weeks, did some LST (I have 9 tops. I'm pretty proud of myself. :bigjoint:), and actually have a fair amount of space between the tops. I noticed there was plenty of space for a few CFLs in there, so I gave at least one side of every top a CFL. One of them is within 1.5" of 4 tops, with 3 smaller buds directly below it that are really starting to bulge in comparison to those a few inches to the side. Some of it may be timing, but I think the buds are coming along much quicker after I switched all my my flat 39W to side lighting. I also started noticing more crystals forming all of the sudden. I have heard its a reaction to protect the leaves from harsher light, but maybe thats just the timing again. The only problem is a few leaves are getting crispy. This plant seems so dense, I don't think I can be hurting it too badly, but it's my first one so I can't be sure. Anyone have any advise or examples of when I should be worried?

I'm already tucking fan leaves, but I can only tuck so much. I can't imagine cutting them would be better than burning. A few of my single blade leaves are getting toasty, but for the most part it's just fans.

If a leaf gets as much brown as green you may as well trim it. This is why I gave up on cfls, that and you have to keep moving them around and the plants stretch this way and that way to get to them - then burn.

I only have burns where the CFL is actually touching, so they are small for now. I still somewhat enjoy rearranging every day or two. It gives me something to do besides waiting. I won't be doing CFL again though, for anything other than mothers and clones at least. I'm going to put a compact HID perpetual box together.

Has anyone noticeably stunted a (mature) plant with CFL burns before?
