Cfl Grow Lights vs Hps. Help Please

Yo,

Currently using 600w HPS dual spec.

I have been reading about CFL lights and most people seem to think that they are pretty crap for buddin'. I have found 300w dual spec CFL's- Could I not just use two of these to the same affect as one 600w HPS?

Also- Would I be right in saying that there is less chance of being done in by the ode 5 0
when using CFL's as there is less heat?

Cheers

hps lights are more powerful than clf, they have more lumens and more penetration so using 2x300w clf will not be the same

lince is right, CFLs have very very weal penetration, the light will heat one fan leaf and freeze up right there, HPS will penetrate the foliage and deliver more light, its like the old saying...more money, more problems.....hps is hotter but ,....more effecient light more problems,lol...if u switch from cfl to hps saying your gonna be disappointed would be a grave understatement...

switching to 2 300 watt cfls is pointless imo, your useing the same electric as the 600 hps but getting alot less light which means alot less buds, pointless really,

in reallity the cfl's use a lot less electricity than the hsp for the same output . I personally would stick with hsp 600 if you already have it . If you used cfl's - you could figure the same wattage used by the hps and pread that around more but .... the 600 hps is always gonna outperform the cfl's

a 300w cfl will give you around 20,000 lumens, a 600w hps will give you around 90,000 lumens. I think that speaks for itself, although we are not discussing other factors such as PAR etc, but having done 50% of a grow with just 2 plants under a 300w cfl, the HPS wins hands down imo.
