CFL Light too far away?

Ok, How close to you keep the CFL's after the plant comes up through the soil? I have heard 1-2 inches and 4-6 inches. All of these seeds seem to grow really slow, compared to my other 1 attempt, lol. I am fine with them not growing fast but what about the light question?

anywhere from 1-2 inches away from the plant. A good rule I have read is to put your hand under the light at the desired distance and if it is too hot for you it is too hot for the plant.

i have also heard around two inches, i am thinking about begining a cfl grow myself, keep us informed

me i run 4 105 watt 50k cfl's, when there in the first part of seedling stage, they dont need that intense of light, when they hit 1st set of true leaves, then light is good, but when there young i would'nt place 2 in 2 start, but what do i know. lol

4-6 for a couple of weeks and then 1-2 in. Good luck.
