Cfl Yield

I was talking about the yields being very small, which should be obvious from reading my first post. I guess some people see something that looks stupid at first and can't resist shitting all over it before they read the rest of the post. The original poster asked about yields, and a few people posted some pitiful yields which shed exactly zero light on the effectiveness of CFLs, and the thread died with a general consensus that CFLs did not produce good yields. However, CFLs are great lights if used correctly in the right situations, and I thought it should be understood that almost anyone could produce better yields if they just knew how to use CFLs effectively.

The yields that they posted were shockingly low, and I was just commenting on that. Anyone reading this thread who actually looked at the wattages posted and the yields from those wattages, and read the posts, and had any technical knowledge at all, would understand exactly what I was saying. If people are using hundreds of watts and only harvesting around a zip or less then they clearly don't know what they're doing, which is the only point I was trying to make.

Guess maybe I worded it poorly, but I thought it was pretty obvious from my original post that I was simply stating the obvious about those poor yields. When I said "Why are all these people posting their yields in grams", I was asking why so many people were unable to produce even a couple ounces with such an enormous wattage.

horseguts, how close to the plants do you keep your lights?

The lights are around 2 inches away. I'm using v shaped bases so that I can have 2 bulbs/socket too. I have a blue spectrum and red spectrum in each socket.

I started the 2 plants in a hollowed out computer tower and move them yesterday to the new grow closet.

Well I just updated my cfl grow space...I found a 55w, 6500K ,Daylight spectrum, 4600 Lumens at a grow shop so I'm currently putting it to use. This is the biggest cfl I have now and it's a great buy. There are bigger cfl's yet but they require a different socket than the normal e26. I will post photos as the grow continues, they're still only a little over 2 weeks old but they're growing quickly.

I just harvested my grow, it was 4 plants of og kush vegged for 4 weeks and flowered for about 9 weeks. I had 8 4' long shop lights totalling 640 watts with 6 23 watt cfls put in at the beginning of flowering, totalling to 778 watts. I know that's a ton, but it makes up for mostly using T12 shop lights which are not exactly ideal. Also the shop lights were about 6-10 inches away from the top of the plants. Anyway, I got just over 7 oz (or 201 grams) wet, so I'm hoping for about 2 oz (or 57 grams dry). Oh, and that was my first grow with generic potting soil and mg fertilizer, so not exactly ideal

This guy on ICmag gets harvest up to 90+ grams and he is only using 3-42w and 2-23w, the thing is he does it more than once. Also he has a small grow cab that is 11"x11"x30" tall and he yeilds 50-60g off of that grow box with 5-23w cfls.:leaf:
