I actually have to enclose the filter so that it will pull air from inside the box.

I'll google a local wood cutter and pay them a couple bucks to cut the piece for me.

oh I see so your going with the external fan rout? being with limited space that makes sense.

If I had a table saw I could just do it. I'm emailing people in town now to see if someone can cut it for me.

I found a retired metalworker with some nice wood tools to help me

Change of plans for the filter. I was laying in bed last night thinking "if only there was a material designed to be air tight for ventilation".....

Ductwork. I'm a moron. So I'm going to ditch the idea of wood box for the filter and go look at metal sheets at Rona to see if I will be able to use sheetmetal with the metal duct tape instead of wood.

    I'm not too quick

It's been driving me crazy trying to figure out the ventilation.

I just settled on pushing through the filter. I'm just going to try and fine tune the connection between the fan, filter and box. I'd like to get it done tomorrow if possible. Really want to get this thing up and running!

This is hard. The filter takes up so much room there's barely anything left for the fan and duct.

I think I have to build a wood small wood box. This is really bugging me.

I was going to pull through but the axial fan is so loud. I'm hoping pushing will really quiet it down. Also I read that pushing through more evenly uses the carbon and gives it a longer life.

Only problem is the space is so tight. And it's annoying not having any wood working tools to fabricate.

I'll try to contact a woodworker today and get a small box and then hook it all up , hopefully.

I learned that cutting sheet metal with a drill bit or hole saw isnt a worthwhile endeavour. I will find a dremel sometime to finish the ventalation.

    This is shelved for now.

When I had to cut holes in my fridge metal, I used a hammer and a thin sharp chisel.
    Piece of cake.

    That looks decent.

I'm going to wait on a dremel that I have coming from someone.

The can filter really is a lot bigger than I realized. Phresh filters come in more manageable sizes, but shipping a carbon filter is expensive so I was stuck with whatever I could get locally

I should rename this thread, it's no longer a Cheapo box :P

lool yeah seems that happens to all of us I was pricing them last night the cheapest one I could find with a 4 inch was like 22 bucks then almost 16 dollars shipping. once I ran all my bulbs it got too hot for my little fans. so I have to invest in a more powerfull inline fan ducting flange ducting and internal carbon filter. s0 with all that that's another 60 bucks. shipped. I'm sure u haven't experienced the worst of the problems yet lol it always seems once u think things are done u get hit with another surprise.

    Very true

I made the mistake of giving up on a project and selling all the parts. I wish I didn't because I could have used them . So lesson learned - don't sell your gear!
