I go to Goodwill and have had good luck doing a search for food storage/mason/canisters on craigslist.

Just found a guy selling quart and half gallon glass canisters for $1.25 each.

Happy curing.

The jars that your spaghetti sauce come in are free.
Just wash them thoroughly with boiling water and soap to eliminate residual tomato odor.

You can get 12 big jars at wal-mart for 6$
I've been scouring Wamart for the past month...The quart or larger jars they have with a screw top are $3.49 each. They don't stock "canning" jars in the fall..I know a store manager and she told me this.

During canning season they sell 1 pint jars for that price.

I'd like to find a source for those 1/2 pickle jars! Spagetti sauce jars are a good idea...But a little small.

Not all walmarts are the same...mine still has a big ass stack of them...maybe HER store doesn't have them...but I know plenty of people are still doing canning around here :)

or just buy Classico spaghetti sauce...particularly the tomato and basil(works great as pizza sauce), and the spinach and cheese...awesome storebought sauces most of the time...and by most of the time I mean I've had weird issues with them where a random jar has like 0 flavor...but other times its delicious :D

I like Classico, but I'm not paying 2+ dollars per jar just becuase it has some sauce in it too...lol...Plus what happens when you need like 15 jars? Thats a lot of spaghetti!

Haha, I can polish off almost a pound dry (1 regular package) of spaghetti by myself, but MAN do I feel full afterwards! Haha...But yeah, i need like 20+ jars, I already have 10+ jars filled, and we're not even half way through! I just feel like that would be a horrible waste of pasta sauce.......

But Walmart, OSH, Target...these are all good sources of cheap jars....Last year I just hit up the dollar store and 99 cent store, they had some jars that worked out pretty well, but no substitution for mason jars.....

Haha, I guess you're right....But with one fell swoop I picked up 24 jars for $11.50 at walmart, and I didn't have to wash and store them for an extended period of time....I can afford the 12 bucks for conveinance, thats less than I make an hour.....

Dude...All I'm saying is that I've been to four Walmarts 3, bigg ass stores and a small store...I live in a Ag Valley..shit loads of apples, pears, peaches cherries...and that store didn't have shit. Just a quart and a half glass cookie jar for 3.49 (made in China of course). I asked the manager and I told you what she said...
Don't call buullshit on me..I'm just telling you what I found and was TRYING to help anyone else out who was looking for jars!

Besides..who the fuck cures in pint jars? And your trying to telling me they sell jars that are twice the size (pint to quart) .50 cents more a dozen?

Yes, I'm telling you they charge $0.50 more a dozen for the upgrade from pint to quart...lol...I bought the pint jars because they only had one case of the quart jars at the time...haha, they still fit like a half oz+ depending on density...
