Newbie grower here, growing my first plants. I had 4 planted, but 3 of my seedlings died after an unfortunate incident involving my dog :(

The one I have left was untouched and looks pretty OK to me at day 7. The growth is kinda slow, though; it's just now growing in its second set of true leaves. Also, the color of the stem kind of concerns me. Is it supposed to look like that? The stem also seems kinda frail.

It look OK to you folks?

what kind of light are you using. it looks to me like your doing ok other than the fact that the plant is streatching. i would get a stronger light or move what you have really close. one CFL (100w equivalent usually about 23-25 actual wats) should do you ok for a week or so. then youll need to add more. about 4 per plant. make sure there only about two inches from the top of the plant. get a fan and have it blow on it to build strong stems for holding larger buds. and bury the stem up to about 1 cm from the bottom of the cotyledons (the first set of leaves, not the first true leaves. DO NOT FERTILIZE until about three weeks in and even then is kinda early. make sure the plant is mature before nuting.

I'm using 3 24 watt CFLs right now. I turned them off and moved them back to take the picture, but usually they're only 2 or 3 inches from the leaves.

When you water, water the pot (the whole pot and nothing but the pot) and not just the plant. Your seedlings can't develop a root system if it's trapped in a little pocket of moisture surrounded by dry soil. Yes, you don't want to overwater, but you need to create an environment for root growth too! So water the pot not just the plant. Don't nute until it's past being a seedling and don't overdo.

Your seedling looks healthy; the stem color is not significant.

If you can get a Y splitter and stick baby in the middle so the light almost touches pot... What I do like is that its not swimming in water.. most OD on water when they start. I water once every 3-4 days and one squirt daily from mister, no nutes till 1 month.... Luck..
+rep, just for not drowning plant..

I still say you have to moisten ALL the soil in the pot, not just where the plant is. . . .

what you want to do is moisten all the dirt then let it dry quite a bit. like the first two inches of the top soil are totally dry. this way you get your roots to go in search of the water. when the roots grow the plant is able to grow more. dont drown the plant. and make sure there is plenty of drainage. holes in the bottom of the pot you kno.
