Yo Ho Ho guys! mery xmas!

starting my hydro grow in the next couple of weeks, going to be using a bubbler similar to stealthhydro.com's 6 pod system....anyways..

im confused over the subject of pumps.

So there are Air Compressors and Submergables, and these have tubes connected to airstones or airtubing.

whats the different characterists of the 2 and why do most peops use compressors?

Also (and most important) how powerful would the pump need to be for a 50ltr / 13gallon reservoir, growing 4 plants in?

cheers!

You want a normal air pump you buy for a fish tank. I would get a pump that is for a 30-60 gallon fishtank so you get a lot more oxygen in that water.

A submerisble pump would be for a drip system where you want to pump WATER.

Ahh gotcha... that is a new one for me. Looks kinda cool but they are more expensive and probably have more wear and tear from sitting in the solution.

ahhh yea gd point! ive found a 'Rena Air 200' on ebay for £15 so probably get something like that. It pushes somin like 150ltr's of water an hour...seeing as my res will be about 50ltr...that wont turn it into a niagra falls will it?!!! hehe. Or just feed the roots clouds of tasty oxyen

Do you mean air? If so that sounds good. Yeah the plants will need more oxygen than a few golfish.
