Choosing nutrients for soilless (coco premixed)

Hey all,

Wondering if people could weigh in on the following nutrient package:

GH Maxibloom
GH Maxigro
GH CaliMagic
GH Armor Si

GH ph up
GH ph down
GH liquid ph tester

We have read a couple posts of members having 10+ bottles of nutrients and supplements. We really would like to start out with the essentials. Please let us know if we are on point or if this needs to be tweaked.

That will do just fine. Drop the GH Armor Si. It's a waste of money and you don't need it. Snake Oil is all it is. You don't even need the calimagic. MaxiGrow and MaxiBloom will do just fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I understand coco requires a 'recharge' of CalMag? If that's true wouldn't you want to keep that CALiMAGic?

Really? Well it was all purchased on A-ma-zon so there is a no questions asked return policy with them. It seemed like a good 4-pack and then the pH kit. Is everyone against Silica?

Why do people insist on supporting companies that have spent millions of dollars denouncing cannabis growers and insist their products are only made for flowers and veggies.

I wouldn't spend a dime on GH/Scott's/Mon$atan garbage nutes if my plants were starving.

Some people don't like wasting their money on overpriced products with fancy labels like AN products.

MaxiGrow is has 6% calcium and MaxiBloom has 5% calcium. That should be plenty. I grow in coco and have never used a calmag type of product because there is plenty of calcium in the nutrients I use. I think many people have issues in coco is because they are overfeeding and causing nutrient lockouts. I never run more than 700 ppm and I don't go that high until a few weeks into flower. I see pictures posted from people having all kinds of issues. The common factor is they are typically running some overpriced nutrient line and half a dozen supplements creating a toxic soup full of different factions that don't always get along. You don't need supplements if you are using a complete nutrient to begin with.

I debated asking this question for my soil grow. I decided not to because any thread I've found on the internet(not just this forum) is full of hearsay and folks that have bought into marketing.

I've been digging for types of manufacturing processes for various "name brand" fertilizers (both liquid and water soluble) and besides the ratios of NPK, and less so the micros, they almost all use the same ingredients and manufacturing process. At least for non-organic ones. The organic ones vary a little bit more, but still generally the same.

I'm all for buying something quality, I pay for Glad garbage bags, because black garbage bags shouldn't be see-through.

It's extremely difficult to sift through all the marketing to figure out what "quality" means in the cannabis nutrient world...

Hey, try it and see how it all does. At the same time try growing one plant with just the grow and bloom and see if you notice any difference. That's what I would do. I just never use any additives except for adding fulvic acid. I have used most of the fancy brands in the past. Mixing 2ml of this and 3ml's of that depending on the week. I got tired of wasting my time and money. I was also having the same nutrient issues I see people post about all the time. I switched to a three part inexpensive nutrient called VitaGrow. Part A = calcium nitrate, part B = micro nutrients, part C = monopottasium phosphate. I've never grown better plants than I do today. Healthy, lush, no deficiencies, etc... And I never run full strength. Growing in coco with no additional calcium additive and not a single problem. VitaGrow is packaged by American Agriculture, one of the first if not the first hydro shop in Portland. The guy that started it also makes the Flying Skull brand which is basically the same thing with a slightly different formulation, a fancy label, and more expensive. I haven't tried it because I'm happy with my boring boxes and plain labels. No hype it just works.

We appreciate the feedback. At this point we have the following fertilizers

GH Maxi grow / bloom
Dr. Earth all purpose (5-5-5)

And we have the supplements CalMag & Silica

pH kit is enroute.

From the wonderful feedback above. We are going to either decide to hold the supplements and use on a needs basis or return. A quart each ran just under $30 so it's not going to break the bank if we end up holding them for emergent care scenarios.
