Thanks man. I've been looking into your suggestion. I think it may have been a calmag issue though, haven't changed anything except bumping up the CalMg a couple feedings ago and the new growth looks great.

That's fair enough mate. I didnt see a picture of your deficiency. Just that you anticipated a sulfur deficiency. So I based my suggestion on that. Glad you fixed the issue though :)

I appreciate the tip! I was just getting some light yellowing between the veins, but in bands, not the whole leaf. Which according to my research, could be like 10 different things lol

I'll try to get a pic later tonight.

@Colanoscopy this i what I was talking about. You can barely make it out in the photo, a little more pronounced IRL. Like I said though, all new growth looks great since I upped CalMg.

She went through what I expect will be her last training session tonight, I'll probably just let her grow up from here. I've got about 18" between the lights and the canopy as is, I can probably raise it up an inch or two but I don't expect her to get that tall.

I did say I would be back to pick your brains at some point. I've ordered 5 x citiled CLU048-1212C4-353H6M3-F1 and a meanwell hlg320h 36v 3.5a driver. Will the 3.5a be too much to push the cobs? Still very much noob like and after looking at other peoples builds they all use like 1400ma

Hope you don't mind, if I give you some answer? :)

I would run the CLU048 at 700mA, like BMHC is doing with his constant current driver.

With your choosen driver (constant voltage) the COBs will need at 36V ~1100mA (maximum is at 2760mA, so it won't be a problem). So you will be able to run 3 COBs in a series circuit at 3 x 40W = 120W. So you can't use the MW properly. A series circuit has many advantages, especially as a beginner. So I would think about, getting another driver... depending on what you want achive, your tent size, and so on...

I dont understand how you got to your numbers there serva. I appreciate the input though definitely. I dont really want to buy another driver. I paid £144 yesterday for the driver. £50 for the cobs. Like £15 for holders. £70 for heatsinks. £30 for the aluminium and about £10 in fixings and stuff

Your driver is putting out some constant voltage (36V). As long you go with a recommended series circuit, every COB will receive 36V, 1080mA at 0C.

Your driver has 3500mA to power up all the COBs.

COB1 = 1100mA
COB1 + COB2 = 2200mA
COB1 + COB2 + COB3 = 3300mA
COB1 + COB2 + COB3 + COB4 = 4400mA (but you only have 3500mA)

BUT

Instead you could just get 5 more COBs, order a proper cc driver (HLG-320H-C700A), so you could run (my guessing!) up to 12 COBs. Same price for you, but better coverage (10 instead of 5 COBs), less heat, longer lifetime, and whatever I miss now.

It's a 3.5amp driver trust me. And @xX_BHMC_Xx did say if I need an assistance earlier on in the thread to shout up. I've seen the 8.9amp 320h too but it's not what I ordered dude. @CobKits any chance you can assist again mate I'm getting a lot of conflicting information

Than please give us a link, to your ordered parts, especially the driver! With this current, the driver will never reach 320W, don't know, how this should be correct :) And I am fine with discussing here, just didn't wanted to flood this nice journal, sorry if I got you wrong ;)

Not sure what driver you got man, the only constant voltage HLG that runs 36v and 3.5a(ish) is the 120H


You can absolutely run those 5 CLU048s on that driver, but you will need to wire them in parallel not series. This is where @Serva is mixed up. Running all 5 in parallel will split your 3.5a evenly (ideally) between the COBs; driving them at about 700ma each. This will pretty much max out the 120H, which is good because they are more efficient at higher loads. Also, you will be running those 048s really soft, and thus very efficient. Downside is, you only get ~125w. Got any links to the parts you ordered?

Just ordered the Hlg320 700ma from mouser and told the Estonian guy I will be sending the driver back to him on arrival for a refund. He has absolutely no issues doing that either. Can't fault his customer service. So will be ordering another 5 3000k 1212s to match the 3500k. Apparently I could run all 10 in series with no issues

But when I understand it correctly, parallel circuit always has a problem with thermal runaway, because the COBs will not heat up evenly? So especially for a beginner a series circuit, and some cc driver is the best choice?

Otherwise I just recommanded Colanoscopy something wrong... :/

I defo can't order a 3rd driver. I'd be sleeping in the garden haha

Great choice on the 320 man, excellent. you can actually safely run 12 gen 6 12-12s in series on that driver as the COBs have Fv of about 33.9v at 700ma, and recommended max on that driver is 428v. I would suggest grabbing one more of each Kelvin and using an even 4-4-4 square layout. You will get more power, better driver efficiency, and more even distribution out of this setup.
