@CobKits this is what I'm about to order and when I get more money I'll add on to it but would you recommend1 240-1400 or2 185's
6pcs--CLU048-1216C4-353H5M3-F1
6pcs--Ideal holder 50-2204CT
6pcs--Ideal adaptor 50-2100AN
6pcs--Reflector KB-D82-90RF
6pcs--Heatsink Φ133*H70mm(for 50-65W)
12pcs Wago connector 222-412
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Save yourself some headaches and grab other wagos, either 413 or 415. You'll need them for the grounding wires

you dont really need all those 2-slot wagos
if wiring in series you go cob to cob and only need (2) 2-slots per driver.

the 240-1400 will only do 5 of those chips as it has 179V available. the hlg-320h-c1400 can do 6

also if using the ideals dont forget the reflector adapters which you'll need to mount to the heatsinks to have somethign to clip the reflectors to

Ok thank you very much I really appreciate it! So would 5 be good for a 4×4? I do plan on adding onto it later on

4x4 is 77% larger than a 3x3 so youd need to build a bigger rig and dim for the 3x3

or do like (2) 3cob bars for the 3x3 and add a bar for the 4x4

I just received nine 1216 chips, but am rethinking my drivers. I bought 3 hlg240-2100b drivers new from a friend who canceled his project. My question is am I going to be ok doing 3 chips per driver without burning up the chips?

Thanks for the reply, only need to hook up the drivers and plug it in without to much worry. @cob kits gets a big thumbs up from me ,ordered Friday nite shipped Saturday I received on Monday. That is great service.

Speaking of the 1216's, when do you think you'll carry the 4000k ones? Those are my favorite to have as an all purpose veg and flower light. I want to step up from my current 1212's but i dont want to buy a new driver for it.

1216s were kind of experimental i wasnt sure where they would fit in the mix and if people would prefer them over the cheaper 1212s, so i only grabbed the popular colors for it

my only concern is im not sure upgrading will give you much more light. they run at lower voltage than the 1212s so depending on if you are upgrading from gen 5 or gen 6 your plants might not see a benefit.

in other words say just as an example if your current chips are giving you 8000 lumens at 50 W the 1216s might give you 8050 lumens at 48.5W (thats completely off the top of my head id have to look at citi calculator)

the most cost effective way to make your current chips more efficient is to add more of the same chips and drop the current (thats part of the reason why i am an advocate for constant voltage drivers in some applications)

Unfortunately the system is using a single cob with a water cooled block attached to a flexible arm. There is 3 of them separately on their own adjustable power supplies. I was looking for more headroom anyways and the 1216's have quite the bump in available power.

well yeah with watercooling you can jam on it. 1216s go a fair bit higher

if you had a little budget for drivers you could bump to the 50V luminus and use less chips per driver

Yea. I think im committed to 36v now lol. A little late for the 48v+ ones.

The only real reason to switch to a 1216 if you already have 1212s (esp. gen 6) would be to drive them at a much higher current. If you don't plan on swapping drivers, just add more chips to your array.

It is single chip size cooling block mounted to a flex arm. Only choice is to swap to a more powerful chip. These aren't even my systems. Personally i have 4 1212 cobs on a long cooling block for mine ran in parallel on a single 350w power supply running at 200w right now. Im going for the simple upgrade with what i have.
