Clone problem...please read

The last two times I have taken clones off my mothers I have been getting some problems. I use humidty domes and keep 15 clones in each. I lightly spray them with filtered water every morning as needed.

I first noticed my og 18 clones had some small dark smudges near the small leaves around the budsite area after a week in the dome. After 2 weeks the whole tiny leaf and all surrounding areas seemed to be "infected" by the dark stuff. The leaves seems to become mushy and started to die. I threw the worst of them out and took more cuts a week ago on all of my strains.

Now the same shit is happened to all my strains. A week under the humidity dome and 33% of all my clones have this dark shit forming on the budsite leaves. Then spreads to the rest of the clone. Leaves turn to mush. Letting them dry out only kills the clone.

At first I thought I was overwatering but I have been doing this the same way for years now and never had problems. Anyone else ever have this happen?

Sorry, I don't have camera for pics.

do you air out the domes?
do you sterilize your equip?
Are the mothers infected?
best to probably dispose of all the clones and sterilize everything and try again...

I air out the domes every morning when I water
Yes I wash with soap and hot water
Mothers are in tip top shape

do u have holes in ur dome? what method are u using for cloning
I have holes in the tops of the domes. Should they be open? I have them all closed and the sides of the plastic are filled with water vapor.

This is a good questions because now that I think about it I never really had this much humidity before these last 2 clone cutttings. I recently added a nice 4 x 2 light fixture and it has added a lot of heat to my closet thus increasing the humidity in the domes because I keep the domes above the fixture on a shelf.

I guess I better open those holes on top of the dome right?

The method I use is:

1) cut clone and drop in bowl of water
2) slice tip of clone on an angle with razor
3) dip clone in clonex jell
4) lay it in an already split open rapid rooter
5) put into slot

I will also change out the razor because I heard that can cause infectious problems too.

Thanks for the replies :blsmoke:

The part in red is something you are going to have to play around with and see what works for you. Everyone grows differently and some people do not even use a humidity dome. I do use a dome because it works for me, but it took a while to find the ideal amount of water vapor on the sides and it is different with every strain also.

When I first take my cuttings, I spray them and spray the dome with the vents closed. After three days or so, I start to open the vents a little more each day. After a week I might be to the point that I don't have any water vapor buildup, but it all depends on how the cuttings are doing. If they look good and are not wilting I will continue to take humidity away from them.

Too much humidity and you risk m**d and they will also root slower because the leaves have enough humidity that it doesn't have to grow roots.
