Cloning in a glass of water?

Is this possible with Marijuana? I have started some clones in jiffy pellets that are not doing so well. I wanted to move them to a hydro system once some roots were showing and I washed away the peat from the jiffy pellet. Being the clones are not doing well I am going to try again but a friend mentioned that I might try just placing the clone in a glass of water till it rooted, then move it to the hydro. But we are not sure if you can do this with marijuana? Any help would be great.

yes. you can put it in a glass of water. some will say you should dip it in rooting hormone first. but It works fine without it. rooting hormone just speeds the process of root forming up. it may take 1-2 sometimes 3 weeks for roots to start forming, so it will require some patience on your part. remember to keep the humidity up... tape a plastic sandwich bag over it and poke a few holes in it. then keep it under a light 24/7 and make sure the light isnt too close to your plastic bag or plant or you might have burn/melt issues. every few days change the water. some will evaporate. make sure you put it in water that has been standing out 18-24 hours to allow any chlorine in the water to be removed. :)

Yes and also watch ur pH on the water the clone is sat in 6 is cool. Also whenever i clone my mums i water them with no nutes for 3 days prior as the nitrate in the nute attually slows the root development in the clones. I have managed to root clones this way by storing and airating water at a pH6 and changing the water daily and till roots show i dipp in rooting hormone every 2 days. Its not the easiest way of cloning but possible. GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks for the replies. I will cut one and give it a try. Just was not 100% sure about this method. I know one thing for sure. I wont be using the jiffy pellets again. I like them for germination but cloning seems to be a little harder with them. Thanks Again. I'll take some pics of my grow. I had posted some a few months back and as you can guess the plants are just a little bigger now lol. It's nice to live on 5 acres cause everytime I walk in the basement now. It just reeks of weed lol. I love it. Thanks Again
