Cloning Without Rooting Hormone?

The only thing I have ever done is put the new clones in a starter plug under a humidity dome on a heat pad. Out of about 20 clones I have only had one die so far. I really dont get why everyone thinks its so difficult. Hell, my big problem is getting my nute mixes right so I quit killing the adult plants.

I'm gonna cut some cuttings and throw them in a cup of water from the sink, i got the 3.99 rootex gel though, so im gonna just put some on and throw them in under a cfl light, wish me luck

I'm experimenting with cloning without using root hormone (even though I have it), the clones are extras to what I can actually flower anyway - it's just an experiment, so far so good, I'll let you know in a week.

Is it possible to clone without a rooting hormone? Like directly plant the cutting into soil.
You can root cannabis without rooting gel. I place the cuttings overnight in a very weak solution of kelp and then plant into Oasis cube and they root at close to 100%. Proper technique will give you a better chance of success than poor technique + rooting gell

i agree.. i uesd to be afraid to not use it but i tried it once and ill never use it agian its a waste of money if you have proper technique. i use a super sprouter heater. and rapid start by general hydro, root riot plugs and a dome. a thin layer of small grade perlite on the bottom... get it wet but not puddles, to retain mostirue. i do a couple other things too that ive learned helps the young plants adapt to a drier enviorment.. :mrgreen:

@W33D,
one of my friends said that you can get all the stuff from the willow tree, and put it in a jar of distilled water for about 2 weeks, and use that as rooting hormone.
If you cut a few willow branches into shorter pieces and then put them in water and let them sit for a week or so they will release their salicylic acid and this is what works as the rooting hormone.
You could also go to a florist and buy a willow branch and then ask them if you can have some of the water from the willow bucket. I have done it and they look at you like you're a weirdo but your plants root and that's all that matters...
