Is it safe then?... felt as though i had to open a window it was kinda stuffy in there - will i be ok to sleep in the same room - i was reading somewhere that too much co2 can be bad for the roots - i hope i have made the right choice since i am a newbie i have no way of measuring ppm etc....

lol u will be fine, i would open the window for yourself tho, dw a few 2 ltr bottles with yeast and sugar aint gonna raise CO2 significantly for u to worry much, if u had 2 gas cylinders running then i would worry more lol

Ok...its 5am - lights on time, couldnt sleep right anyway, watered my babies and gave the co2 bottles a shake - keepin that window open too!!

Do you think ill be ok using the bottles dont want to give them too much and it affects the roots as mentioned somewhere else....

trust me there wont be a high enough level of Co2 coming out for you to worry about your roots lol, if peeps use it to aerate the plants in an aquarium with their fish, i dont reckon its gonna be near toxic levels do u?

Well im still here provocateur... damn it is a yeasty boozy smell when you shake those bottles up, hopefully they are doing the trick and the plants are partying in there. I moved the bottles up so they are sitting on the soil in the pots so that the c02 gets released from the top of the bottle directly into the tops of the leaves of the plants as i heard co2 is heavier than 02 and that way it moves down the plants.

sugar water and yeast it up. I've had my gallon jugs of water last 3 weeks while keeping the water full and adding sugar daily

We used to use "co2 tablets" to euthanize fish where I work--they're just alka seltzers. I haven't priced 'em but you can probably just buy generic alka seltzer at your pharmacy and save some cash.

I still have a few questions...

Does the temperature have to be over 80F for this to work?

Will it harm my plants in any way by adding this as i heard too much c02 can damage roots?

What is the ideal temperature for adding co2 and why do you need higher temperatures for it to work?

Do i need to be worried about the ppm content - its just a small cupboard grow with two plants.

thanks.

Dry ice can not be controlled and in most spaces would add too much CO2 and damage the plants. A person would have to use a very small chip everyday so as to not over do it. Seems like a pain when there are much better solutions and some for much less money.
