co2 water for roots?

Hello, I have a sodastream carbonated drink maker, Would there be any benefit to the roots if I carbonated some filtered water?
Probably not good for the roots or plant, just wondering, I have heard one person on the internet (can't remember where) using carbonated water and putting in spray bottle for leaves. But I also heard that this would actually block the plant's ability to undergo photosynthesis.
any thoughts?

Many thanks,

lol yeah the roots dont take in co2. They do how ever love oxygen. for a soil grow you can pretty much mix the water and nutes as needed. But i put mine in a resivior and oxygenate it with an air pump, not sure if it makes a difference but i do it anyway. If your doing a hydro grow you probably already know that they need oxygen in the water.

Yeah i dont think it could hurt, the co2 would prolly just end up in the air anyway. Though I dont think its enough to make it worth it. I was told the co2 has to get up to 1500 ppm before being of much help. 300 some is what is in the air naturally. doubtful that could even raise it 100.

I used to buy bottles of soda water and leave the cap off and sit it in the grow room, the released co2 is great for the plants. A bottle would bubble slowly for almost a week. I thought that was a good method of increasing co2 in the air, even if only small amounts its something... However that was when I was using low wattage lights and heat was not an issue, if extraction is used then it's kinda pointless.
