Took the plunge and got some cobs.

I pay 0.13 per kilowatt hour.

Vegged for 3 weeks 24/0 under 100 watts, 0.32 per day. 6.50
Vegged for 2 weeks 24/0 under 200 watts, 0.64 per day. 8.96
Total running cost of lights =15.46
200 watt dimmable light bar cost 200ish (parts cheap from kingbrite)

215.46

Under 600w MH would have cost 65.52 to run.
I know cfl, t5s, etc could be more efficient/cheaper, but basing it on a 600w MH for veg.
Cheapest dimmable digital lighting system 85 + 65.53

140

light bar expectancy 50,000 hours
MH bulb 5,000 - 20,000 hours. Cheapest bulb costs about 20
HPS bulb about 20 per bulb

Going for a quality system you an double these figures easily

To replace the cobs on the bar would be expensive but chips are getting cheaper, if I could start again I would buy a cheaper cob but just went with what I'd read from Supra and Growmau5. I'd also mix the kelvins, I don't know a lot about the sciencey stuff, 3500k was recommended as a good all round spectrum. From what I've seen there's something lacking in flower which prevents donkey dick buds. Just my opinion based on absolutely nothing.

I'm not advocating COBs yet, I'm hoping for the best but I'll be completely objective and prepared to sell the lights if they don't perform!

Made a few fk ups during veg, plants got very stressed a few times. Trying to adjust to new systems, different heat/humidity, trying bubble buckets. Was originally going to try capn style buckets but think Ill hand water rockwool since I'll need to hand water the coco/hydroton mix. Might still automate it, see how it goes.

4 x critical +2.0 clones in bubble buckets. About 5 weeks since cut. Some topping. Super cropped early. 1.2 ec
2 x Black D.O.G. Coco/hydroton mix. Trasplanted once, will transplant into 35 litre fabric pots. From seed about 6 weeks old. Both topped twice. 1.2 ec. Theyr'e thirsty so watering every day atm, mix doesnt hold much water.
2 x Incredible bulk from seed. In rockwool, will be and watered in rockwool the whole grow. 0.4 ec.

GH Gro 3. Micro 2. Bloom 1
SIlica 1ml per litre (also PH up)
Cal Mag .8 ml per litre
Rhizotonic, varying amounts depending on need, roughly .5 ml per litre
Cannazym, varying amounts, 1 ml per litre when I see any brown on roots

22-24 Celsius
60ish humidity. Ambient is about 45, I lay wet towels and pillows around the tent to raise it.
PH adjusted to 5.8, runoff in coco is usually about 6.1.
8" oscilating fan not directly on plants, leafs all trembling. Used a dremel to bur holes in the front and back of the base so I could hang it with bungees.
12" Mountain Air filter
10" Phresh Hyper fan silent, connected to filter with a plant pot.
Intaking passively

Temperature 22-26 Celsius
Humidity 45-65
Fed today everything's 1.2 ec apart from 2 seedlings which are on 0.4 ec

Decent root growth in the past 2 days thanks to rhizo and cannazym they look great.

Friday

Sunday

leaves still pretty droopy. struggling with humidity, added more wet towels and poured some water on the side of the tent the bubble buckets sit on.

Wanted to increase the lights to 400 watts per side this weekend but will wait till the critical +2.0 recover.

Done some more super cropping on the black DOG and snapped both main stems. So just taped them back up

Incredible bulk happy as Larry transplanted both from the big grodan cube to 5 litre with the small rockwool sugar cubes. 4 sets of true leaves. Will top soon

I'm interested in black dog I've got cobs going now & my next light might be a 315 cmh
Yeah I've watched a couple of grows of yours with COBs, or was it hps, pound per plant? cant remember right if you made
It but some nice looking bud!

I haven't grown BD but it's supposed to be a very resilient plant. I've had no issues with it and treated it pretty badly tbh, including a hyper fan falling face down on one for half an hour, and splitting the main stem today for the 3rd time on one! . Supposed to be a fast finisher, like 50 days but will believe that when I see it!

The flowers look amazing though on some
Phenos

Everything looking a wee bit sad. Not entirely sure what the issues are.

12/april

22-24 Celcius
24/0
humidity 45-69, still using damp towels, etc to raise but lowers as they dry obviously.

Critical + 2.0

Root zone 21 celcius. 0.8-1.0 e.c. PH 6.1. Reservoir change at weekend

Plants are starting to look a little perkier but still pretty droopy. Leaves looking anything but ideal but improving a little each day.

Moved the water from approx 5" from root zone/net pot to 1". Roots have been bursting since. Not really sure what was/is ideal.

At first I thought they were maybe light stressed, but wondering now if the droop could be from lack of light. Had 200w of led 30" above canopy, I've lowered it to 24" to see if they improve. If so I'll add more lights and maybe lower them further. Read some people have them 12" above canopy, I was sure from before that they should be 28"-34". But still learning.

Black D.o.g

These are too hungry to keep up with atm, v busy. Need transplanted to final pots which will be this weekend. 35 or 60l fabric not sure yet. Still in plastic 10 litres I think. Fed 1.2 ec

One is still recovering from a pretty nasty main stem split.

Incredible bulk

Looking a little droopy. Were put in big pots, rockwool still sodden at the bottom so maybe a little overwatered still
