Coco Flush

I just finished my first grow in coco.
I flushed for a week but I feel that wasn't long enough. My ash isn't grey but instead it's black and hard to smoke which shows me that I didn't flush correctly. Should I flush for 2 weeks instead or stick with 1 and increase the water??

Are you letting the coco get dry between waterings? a 2 week flush is never necessary. It will affect flower quality and appearance. What was your feeding schedule? Did you get good runoff?

As suggested, check your dryng cureing and grow conditions. There is no magic flush to correct a bad grow and a good cure will have 1000 times more benifits than any flush will. I dont flush at all and its always top shelf. Also coco should always remain damp durning the grow, dont dry it out like soil.

Yep-- what they said! Many things affect it.. and did you check the ppm's of the runoff at the end of flush?
Did you actually FLUSH the plants- or just stop feeding them?

You need to really flush- then no food just carbs (debated) for last 2 weeks...

And yep- drying & curing effect the smoke too!

Oh yeah-- do you ever spray the plants with anything? If so- you need to spray them down with plain water to rinse them a couple times after/during flush... or all that residue is in your smoke. ;)

How much runoff am I looking for?
And yea your right about curing time cause I had about a week of dry time and I put everything into gallon baggies and burp about every other day so I guess it should get better but I was stunned by the black ash.
But I love the coco. Great addition to my garden

If you use a gallon pot for example you need to run at least double that, most say triple the amount of water through it. Dont use gallon bags to cure in. they seem to reduce the flavor and taste. Glass jars are the way to go. When it comes to runoff 20 % will be good. Feeding coco like soil will cause your coco to become too salty and growth will suffer. More flushing to get that all out of there..How were you feeding? what ppms? how ofthen?

who ever was the first person to say "don't let your coco dry between waterings" should be shot! i have been growing in coco for about five years now and have done MY OWN side by side on this subject and KNOW FOR SURE that letting your coco dry a bit helps your roots BIG TIME! checking your goddamn runoff for salt build up and PH swing will help you avoid problems not to mention the fungus knats that i never see any more. but what can i say, to each their own, everybody has a different enviroment to consider. the only TRUE two ways to super charge your plants are extra oxygen at the roots and extra CO2 at the canopy. with every thing else LESS IS BETTER.
