Coconut canna oil

I'm not sure if this is the right form for this or not but I'm gonna try my hand in making coconut canna oil
Iv watched tons of videos and read lots of forms but most of them are making small batches only using a quarter or half oz of bud. I have 10ozs of sugertrim/bud I wanna use. I'm going to be going the crock pot way so I will decarb in the oven first then use the slow cooker. Now my question is how much coconut oil do I use? I've seen methods where some people will add water and some people don't. I'm leaning more towards no water. So if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated

you can do as much as will fit in your crock pot,, but be sure to put in equal amounts of water per the amount of oil and weed,, its the water in the crock pot that keeps the temp from every going above 212,, as soon as the water hits that point it turns to vapor and keeps the overall temp level and stable,, if the water ran out,, the temp would go higher, the water is the stablizing factor

i also used a killowatt meter on my crock pot,, and the next go around I am going to use a lamp dimmer and a candy thermometer and set the dimmer so the crock pot runs at about 190,, if you can get your hands on an old crock pot,, they are much better at using a lower temp,, modern crock pots are all set to boil,,, this whole food safety thing

Thanks for the reply, any idea what a pound of coconut oil is in cups? I have a 860 ml jar which is 3.6 customary cups so I'm thinking probably need 3 jars for 10 oz of trim?
And would the only reason to use the water to be the temp from getting to high?
I do have an older style crock pot that can be set pretty low

There are lots of ways to do this. My current method is a Black & Decker rice cooker. I bring the oil & water to a boil, add decarbed cannabis, then cook for about one hour.
I used to cook it much longer and have found that cooking it to death doesn't increase potency. It will, however, make your finished product taste much "weedier" -- which most people want to avoid.

the water really does help regulate the temp,, BUT it also collects all the black crap, and when it cools the black crap stays in the water, while the oil hardens on the top,

Not sure about the rice cooker temp. I'm thinking it's pretty hot because the lid has a hole in it to vent steam. A few years ago I watched a video of Rick Simpson making his famous RSO -- and he used the exact same rice cooker I've got! Weird huh?
I figured he knew what he was doing & have been using it ever since.
It is very important not to let all of the water boil out because your weed will fry and potency will be reduced.

how much water needs to go in
anywhere from 2 to 4 cups per pound of butter/ oil,, but that depends on how long you plan to simmer it,, just dont let it run out of water when using the crock pot,, i had at least 4 cups in my last 2 pound batch,, and it was close,, so i will run more next time,, but i do want a cooler running crock,

You don't really need a lot of plants if you let them grow big and train them to stay low to the ground. A SCROG can be a pain in the butt, but it's the easiest way to get your plants to grow sideways instead of straight up. I've got four plants in a 5X5 and one of them has consumed half of the tent -- with at least three weeks left in flower! The other three are indica hybrids and will finish in 8 days.

The exact amount of water isn't important -- as long as you don't run out. If you plan to cook it for a while, you may have to add more water, which is not a big deal.

Yeah the scrog is the way to go I just harvest 5 plants ( 1 plant was next to nothing)
In a 4x4 tent and came out with 19oz and 10 gs dry
That's what I'm doing with all my sugar trim and popcorn buds now is gonna attempt canna oil, have 10oz of it haha

Right now I'm running a 2g test in a little tiny crock pot haha
