My third design i think i got most the bugs worked out .

I might swap in a bigger res next run. These girls drink alot lol

But the setup on the right is getting donated to my womans green house after this run for tomatoes ha ha .

I got plans for a semi nft table set up.

If it works well i might give up the rdwc :)
I would like to eventually go this route, once I get some concrete down in my basement and I can keep the mold spores down to a minimum.

It does increase humidity especially when the plants are transpiring so much ...i need to throw a constant drain line on my dehuey today .
If i miss a day she skyrockets lol.

Hopefully my next system wont make humidty climb so bad .

As it wont have as much air coming out of the buckets. And the volume of water will be less

Trying to get more energy efficient. But if the new setup doesn't keep up ill stick with rdwc.

I grew in coco for years when i was in the crawler as well.. i loved coco but hated the constant lugging it down to the crawl space years ago and went hydro..

Been in water for years .. every time i bring coco in my room i get fungus nats (canna coco)

Finally got rid of those bastards by getting rid of my coco lol.

But i do love coco just hate it at the same time:)

I want my next system to try to not have any waste or need to buy media

Just laying down 10 mill plastic will do wonders if your dirt is exposed (im sure you know)
I just redid my crawl space last year with rigid foam and plastic .. night and day ..

This is something that has been going through my head for the past few days here.. does having your soil open and exposed, versus covered in any way help? I see so many people running open top, but so many others using lids and plastic sheeting, among others.. Growing indoor is a new thing for me, so Im learning so much lately. However, this exact subject is something I failed to look into deeply until now. Ill be doing some research, but any advice is appreciated.

Also, really nice grow journal here Smoke. Very thorough and concise. I am loving the pruning pics and details you are adding in there, as that is something I know with my ocd that going too far will be quite easy.. you've shown me some perspective in this area and I really appreciate it.

I was meaning if his basment floor is dirt :)

Although im sure little panda plastic covers would help a tiny bit on top of your soil in pots.
Although id probably end up ripping it off somehow lol.

Thanks and welcome

Im especially doing the defoliation side by side so peeps can see you wont kill the plant if you pull some leaves off lol. I know ill get a harvest either way so why not have some actual side by side action.

So many instantly cling to the whole i dont pull a single leaf idea.

But theres no way i could max out my square footage without training and defoliation.

Although im curious of the results myself
As i never leave a control plant ....ocd? lol.

And the little guy in the coffe can are for those that say you have to light proof or get root rot .
To be fair im running hydroguard

root ball is pretty white in that creamer container :)

So you dont see any real need for covering up the soil in a pot? I myself would think its a waste of time.. but have no clue what I am talking about.

And the side by side shit is right up my alley.. you're an inspiration in that respect my friend. My whole reason for getting into controlling things and growing indoors is so that I can tweek and learn and improve over time. Side by side, imo.. is the only way to prove to yourself even, that you are right. ;)

I've never really had an issue with the fungus gnats, but I do get fungus, like little mushrooms from time to time.
Every fall I get gnats in the house though, fuckers are everywhere.
Do you run sterile or use benies in your reservoir?

It wouldnt hurt anything to cover it but at the same time it wouldnt hurt to not cover it either .

As to the side by side thing ..im a visual learner so hopefully it helps someone lol

Bushing up nicely!

I think there is more to it than pulling leaves or not. I know in my SCROG if I do not thin out the canopy there will be no light past the first few inches it is so thick and it goes wall to wall in my tent so there is no “penetration” from the sides and around a plant like you normally would have.

I have the same strain running in #1’s as I have in my scrog, un topped cuts just to see how it would do and they are nicely covered top to bottom with flowers but there are so few leaves to block light and space around the plants there is no need to remove leaves and I have no doubt they would hurt it’s yield. Considering if a small plant only has 50 leaves and you remove 10 , that’s 1/5 of the plant being taken off with just a few leaves. I can remove buckets of leaves from my scrog before the plant notices though.

I can help you with that. It pretty easy once you get the hang of it. It’s also very satisfying and a fun side project.
Alwasy liked watching shrooms and fungus grow.

Been years since ive eaten some but i would if i grew em for sure :) actually its been about 10 years i think since i last shroomed .

Agreed outsoors a plant needs all its leaves cause the sun already travled 93 million miles
A few feet arent going to stop it :)

Indoors we cant utilize all the growth especially
Since our lights couldnt dream of matching the sun.
Im all for not plucking unless its necessary

But in a scrog ,it is necessary ,in my case at least.

Cause ive trimmed enough larf in my time to not want to bother with fluff

So ikeep taking more and more off every time .
I hate taking anything off my girls grew but in the end ill be happier :).

This run isnt what i would call on point though :)
Next run WILL be even better
