Its very true. My mom called me crying. He not only didn't leave but stayed and tried to follow her in the bedroom when she went to go get dressed.

The guy was a piece of shit. She didn't take pics of the place right away after moving in but I told her to take pics once I found out what kind of guy he was. My brother grabbed the guy and they got into it. The landlord threatened to call the police. My brother did anyways. I reckon the police said something to him as it never happened again after that. I have no doubt he did it to the next tenants.

I told my mom to take pics again when she moved out. I'm glad she did. He tried to charge her for replacing the carpet when all it needed was a standard cleaning as there was no damage or stains. Several thousand dollars he tried to charge her and refused to give her deposit back for various things that were lies. The judge ordered her deposit back.

I'm sure some renters are shitty people but that doesn't give the landlord the right to walk in unannounced.

I taco pegged. I'm sure he pulls shit like that all the time. Fucking slum lord.
Like trump walking into the beauty pageants dressing room.....letch

Taco thinks its ok just to show up and walk in on a renter. My moms landlord was doing that shit at one place. Didn't even knock. Caught her walking out the shower half naked. Some people are just trash and don't respect people's rights.

Taco doesn't understand as a renter you have certain rights.
I haven't rented in more than a decade. But if a landlord pulled that shit on me, I'd shoot first ask questions later.

I thought about getting a property to rent out with 12 units about 6 years ago. FUCK THAT!!!!!!
Our first house we rent out as out of state landlords and that is enough
If you can get the state to work with you, you can section 8 those sorts of buildings depending on where you are. Fix it up pretty good, get a good landscaper.

If the state sees you are trying to be a good landlord to people in need, they pay good rates on time, every time. And you can usually negotiate handy man terms.

is that latin for "ignorant rant"?
I think the literal translation is "appeal to ignorance". Ignorant rant is good. In the context of my comment, I meant it was one of several kinds of logical fallacies that dipshits use to browbeat in a disagreement.

http://philosophy.lander.edu/logic/ignorance.html

I. Argumentum ad Ignorantiam: (appeal to ignorance) the fallacy that a proposition is true simply on the basis that it has not been proved false or that it is false simply because it has not been proved true. This error in reasoning is often expressed with influential rhetoric.

What Taco said was:

"To date, no innocent man has ever been executed in the modern era. Not one."

Well, yeah,

Once a person has been executed the state has no interest in proving itself wrong. It will also be incredibly resistant to helping a private person gain access to information. In an honest debate, the person making the claim should be able to prove their case. Instead Taco appeals to the lack of proof as proof, a logical fallacy.

I'm with ya. PinkTaco's got me on ignore for awhile ever since I had to explain to him that the President's pardon power is not absolute. Man, he did not like that.

Now I just fuck with him 'cause he's kinda (definitely) an a'hole.

He's not as bad as some. Sometimes he gets on his high horse and defends extreme positions that are obviously wrong. I think he's a wannabe lawyer. Like the time he said that a bumper sticker telling trump voters to fuck themselves was unlawful, not protected speech and the Sherrif had every right to threaten legal actions. Even the Texas prosecutor in the district where the kerfluffle went down said the officer who threatened the driver with legal actions was wrong. Citing references from real lawyers didn't sway him.

Yea, I'm not a big fan of the death penalty either.

Easy to claim an unprovable statement. We've shown you more than once that the court system can be corrupt and wrong, on MANY occasions. You've yet to show us that your claim is accurate.
I'm pretty sure if someone looks through my posts I as very pro death penalty.

Over the last five years I've changed my mind. In certain cases I would be ok with it. Caught red handed, no shadow of doubt.

I've been watching a lot of specials and documentaries about innocent people going to prison and death row.

Here in the states cops can lie to you about having evidence and interrogate you for hours on end. They coerce confessions.

Its was England, I don't remember, they don't allow the police to lie or long interrogations. A lawyer and someone else is allowed to be with you.

Older cops fought the idea fearing convictions and the amount of cases solved would go down. The opposite actually happened.

There is a serious miscarriage of justice when law enforcement when you force an innocent person to confess. First an innocent person goes to jail and the true perpetrator goes free.

I can't see how anyone can be so obtuse about it. Some people really think police are infallible. That's not the case. Some make mistakes. Worse yet, some are vile people. Some people have never seen the bad side of police. If witnessed and been the victim of bad police. I've had the prosecutor look at me and tell me I'm guilty and seeking the max unless I plea out over lies. I also had to drop some serious money to stay out of jail. I know how wrong the justice system can be.

I did for a duplex I owned in MA. I've since sold it.

But it worked out well for me. Got paid on time every month, and the tenants were pretty nice folks. I treated them with respect. They treated my property in kind.
Most are. Before I had rentals I had a few landlords that would call me for various types of work.

Sure. Some on section 8 will be bad renters. That's with everyone though. That's what insurance is for. If someone tears your shit up you make a claim or chalk it up to the cost of doing business. You don't go violate tenants rights.

On executions I beleive the Roman Catholic Church has the most balanced view I have found on it. Now I do not contend all of their stances are what I would want to see as public policy, not by a long shot, but on this topic I think they nailed it on the head.

Capital punishment should not be used unless there is no other reasonable altrnative to protect society.

Now that leaves room for interpretation of when that applies, but I find its principles sound.
But then they are going against their own beliefs. They shalt not kill has no room for a grey area. Its cut and dried.
