I'm kinda confused on what exactly I have to buy that can use both metal halide and hps bulbs. Could someone please explain and maybe show me a link as to where I could order one?

If you already have your ballast and fixture, look into the conversion bulbs.
If you are looking for everything, consider a a switchable ballast (as previously stated) or a digital. Both handle the straight-up bulbs (conversion bulbs cost a bit more then standard.)
Now I have heard, but never tested (nor have plans too, unless on someone else's dime) that the diff between a HPS and MH is that the cap is bypased on a MH.

what bbb said, all you do is put the igniter on a toggle switch, no need for an igniter with mh, i belive it is built into the bulb, btw ive heard of people sticking mh in a non switchable hps, but it has been said to say that the light dont last as long, i imagine thats because of the igniter.
