This is going to be such a noob post but i want to get it right.. ok hear i go.
The top of the plant has lots of amber trics yet the lower sites are still white??? Firstly can i chop the top and will the bottom still grow? some say dont do this as the weed will taste like shit?? secondly when i chop weed? i get the hang to dry till it crisp it an decent aired room up side down.. I understand cut the big stupid leaves off but do i leave them leaves on close to the buds with white crystals on um? or do i cut them too? and last of all the stem in the middle of the buds? I dont try and cut that out too do i? or will that be ok to smoke when dry... I think that covers it.. thanks x:?:

yes its fine to harvest the top of the plant and let the bottom continue to grow, this is a common practice and wont affect the flavor. 2nd you dont dry the buds till crisp, you just dry them until the stem bends and snaps without folding. that will tell you when its dry enough to cure. 3rd the small leaves around the bud, yes cut them too they might be covered in tric's so you may want to make hash, cannabutter, smoke them or whatever. its up to you how much you want to manicure your buds and how much you want to leave on. no you dont try to cut the stem out of the middle, you just want to cut in down to an inch or so. during curing the moisture from the middle of the bud as well as the stem will come out making the outer bud feel moist again, you want to burp your container as to let that moisture evaporate. hope this helps. goodluck

Hi, don't cut the leaves that has trichs on them. Dry first then cut them out. It will be a lot harder to remove the leave once it dries but there is a noticeable difference between high and taste compared with trimming the plants when it is still wet.

As soon as you get amber trichs and all of the other trichs are cloudy, your plant is ready to harvest. By now you buds would have swollen drastically compared to when clear trichs were present. Make sure that the bronze pistels have receded and that there are no new white pistels still growing. Also, most, if not all fan leaves should be yellow or dead. Meeting these conditions usually get the full effect of the strain you are planting. This is because you are harvesting the bud when it is just the right amount of ripeness.

Cutting small pieces of your bud is not a good idea. You are exposing it to posibble toxic elements, for example, if you just finished smoking a cigarret. And even if you don't, why risk unwanted elements getting in your plants.

Trust the force pado-one and cut with one blow.

i wouldnt you want to leave them in a dark draft free place as to not let moisture create mold. you can lose a harvest in a day by placing it in the wrong place. dark draft free. thats the key

well i cut 3 branches off and it weighed just over an oz.. i dried some on washing line in direct sun, smoked um yesterday.. got me stoned a bit but not half as good as i expected.. tastes a bit shitty? I put some in a cardboard box hung over a line and put it in a closed dark cuboared,, still wet as but smelling not too bad? and lastly i put some in a glass airtight coffee jar, which again is still wet, but only day 2... will it dry and smell as sweet and lemony as it did when on the plant? Im leaving the other plants a couple more weeks and try again....3 months i been waiting and this bit is just killin me....

you should at least leave the plants hanging for two weeks and keep checking the stems. When they reach the right condition (per Hoenheim's instructions) you can place them in jars. They have to cure for at least a month to get the flavor you are looking for. The longer you cure the better the taste and milder the smoke. The reason your weed tastes bad is because it still has a shit load of chlorophyll. It has to sit in the dark for a while to break down the chlorophyll. Hope that helps. :)

By the way, weighing your product before it's dried and cured will not give you an accurate measure of how much you have. Wait until it's dried and cured to weigh it. ;)

::edit:: sorry misunderstood the question. I take off the fan leaves, cut the plant at the base, trim and then hang them stem and all.
