Correct Lighting

I was just wanting to ask a quick question about what light's I should use. Should I use just one light, or do I need a different lights for each stage (growth/flowering).

I was thinking of getting a hps 1000w, If i can use just that, does anyone know how far I should hang it above the plants from seedlings?

Also, if I were wanting to grow around 30 plants all at once, will one light be enough?

well the 1000w will be to much for you seedling you should use a CFL light untill there about a week and ahalf and for the distince put your hand infront of your plant if it gets hot fast then lift you light till it dusint get hot and for the 30 you want to do it depends on whant way you want to grow how bigs your room and want way do you want to grow big or sea of green or so on

Hi odls441,
Thanks for the help. To answer your question, I was thinking about just growing them to full size, consdering i have a decent sized area for the growth, I am just kinda confused as to if one light will be enough to provide lighting for all of the plants.

This is what a 400 watt hps lamp, socket, reflector and ballast looks like. oh yea the lamp is referring to the bulb.
