Corruption.

Umm... Hasnt every type of government failed at some point in history? Can you point to a better form of government? The problem is the power and corruption that seeps into the fabric of government breeding an entitlement mentality.
I think the US government is one of the oldest governments in the world.

When a system can give a man money and power by being elected, the type of men that will pursue that money and power will usually offer bribes in exchange for votes. That's just the way the river flows. No one is surprised when rivers don't flow up a mountain, but for some reason people are shocked when governments do corrupt things. Then these politically active people use the same corrupt system of voting to try to fix the corruption of the people they voted in earlier... And they actually think this is a viable strategy! Is there an emoticon for slamming my head against a wall, pulling my hair out and lighting my face on fire at the same time?

People say capitalism has failed and I say we are not a society based on capitalism anymore.
The free market has given us everything but the air we breathe. The government wouldn't be around if it couldn't succeed in convincing the people that without it, we would have nothing. In today's age especially, there is nothing the government can do that the free market wouldn't have a better answer for in its absence.

Great post! While I believe that each should look out for all, I do see how you mean the banking cartels are playing an intricate part of the corruption, and that we can't just elect new people because they are equally "fallible".

Do you ever notice that all the great presidents got assassinated? Kennedy's, Lincoln, and the scrupulous Congressman Charles Lindbergh........

Peace
There is the truth. If a President challenges the powers that be, he is dealty with swiftly. Kennedy wanted to end the Viet Nam war, Bing bang boom, gone, head exploded. Lincoln wanted to put the states back together, bing bang boom, head shot. Congressman Charles August Lindberg died of brain cancer??? The other lindberg died of lymphoma on the island of Maui, can't really see the connection

People say capitalism has failed and I say we are not a society based on capitalism anymore. Look at our tax code... 20,000+ pages of unfairness and inequality.

The problem is that people look to the government to solve all of their problems and then the government tries to do it. What our churches, communities and neighbors used to provide in the form of charity has been replaced by social security, medicare, welfare, food stamps, etc. Government tries to do infinite things and it requires infinite taxes to do it.

And somewhere along the way they convinced us that spending money that would be too unpopular to raise in the form of taxes now is going to be better when our kids and grandkids have to pay for it... It is complete insanity.
I couldn't agree more! +rep

They are just going to use the hidden tax to pay for it all, and 80% of people won't have a clue why its happening. What is the hidden tax?

I always thought Kennedy was killed becasue he tried to get rid of the Federal reserve by issuing silver certificates. And Lincoln was Killed because he circumvented the bankers by issuing US Government Currency called the GreenBack. Lindberg was a well voiced opponent of the federal reserve. Not necessarily any of this is the facts, it just makes more sense because the fed had way more to lose than anyone.

I think there are some oriental governments over 400 years old but I could be easily wrong about that.

I think one of the biggest problems in our government is corruption. just look at any spending bill that gets passed through congress :wall:

What would you guys think would be the best way to rid our system of corruption?
No Earmarks, Pork or unrelated riders. They use these things to buy each others vote. Without the Pork, earmarks and riders... they would have to vote based on actual merit. NOT for whats in it for them. Many Congressman would lose their will to live, or at the very least be fitted with a straight jacket.

Lobbyists.... It should be illegal to accept donations in Washington DC, or while Congress is in session. Out of state money should be out to. What would happen...... Local lobbyist's representing a K-street firm {shady local lawyers on retainer or commission} would deliver the checks the first day Congress is out of session. An armored truck would arrive at the Congressional office near you, the lobbyists would cross a picket line of angry bi-partisan protesters. {angry mob with pitchforks}
