Could extensive feed of molasses give harsh/bad taste?

I used molasses periodically on first flowering month (like 3-4 times i think), second month i increased the dose and last 2 weeks im feeding molasses every watering.
I just finished second flowering month, i have maybe 1 week left for harvest but i have my doubts. A friend who used it occasional and flushed with molasses (sulphured) in his last grow got a bit harsh molasses like taste.
My buds seems to like molasses anyway, they are like rocks! Dense and heavy. I even have to support the branches or they fall because of the weight.
Feeding atm: 1 full tbsp/galon of unsulphured molasses, 4ml/l biobizz bloom. 3 litre total watering for 12litre pot

Should i stop molasses or continue for maximum yield?

Can't tell ya what ur prob is, maybe molasses, maybe ur cure, whatever... Seems to me 1 tbsp is a little steep. I go only 1 tsp and get plenty of compliments on the taste.

molasses should be used as a bloom booster and only given a few week in the grow also your not following biobizz feeding as grow is supposed to mixed with bloom as the both have a synergistic effect

also bizz contains molasses bear that in mind

your probs using to much bloom change ratio to 1ml grow 3ml bloom and drop bloom all together the last 7 days

I typically use molasses at the 3rd week of flowering when I water and stop prior to flushing. Your formualtion is correct but the frequency of your use is too much imo.

First of all thanks for you replies guys. :D

I really dont like biobizz schedule, i stopped feeding grow so the plant be allowed to become nitrogen deficient in last 2 weeks. This could result to a smoother taste, i know too much nitrogen make smoke harsher.
Im gonna lower the dosage of bloom to 3ml/l, but what about molasses?
Should i stop ? Should i even flush when ambers show off?
I hope it didnt ruin my buds.

its the pk that cause the roughness not N adding grow allows extra n to help remove pk making the smoke cleaner whilst keeping yield. Plus i suspect grow has a few extra trace mineral bloom lacking

extra Nitrogen and healthy plants will make a better harvest i talk from experience on this. Plants will yellow when they want to. you should not force them in organics

you want 1ml grow per l now thats it but it may take 7-10 days to remove build up

stop feeding molasses now its a carb booster for microlife and its not needed now and probs over used it

what do i know ive only been using bizz for donkeys years i like how you think you know more about the nutrient than the company but your not correct because now you have issues

dont let my post count fool you i have over 10 thousand knocking about in other forums

Thank you Agito, i'll keep that in mind. But it havent been so long since i stopped grow. I hope i'll harvest at 10/12, so i stopped it before 3-4 days. Since then i used 1ml/l grow through the whole flowering period.
Tomorrow is the next feed, i'll give it for a last time 1ml grow and keep 3ml/l bloom, decreasing it till harvest.

Was your buddies stuff done curing before you guys smoked it? That will give it a harsh taste for sure. Also to my understanding isn't that supposed to be UNsulfured molasses used? May have been part his problem as well.

Yes ofcourse it was cured. Sure sulphur dioxide could give a nasty taste.. is this a valid assessment though?

Too often and too close to harvest.

Amount is ok, but only once/week and stop 2 weeks before chop.

I believe too much molasses will block oxygen intake with the roots. It is used to feed microbes in soil, so they only need a very little. Very little

extensive feeding of molasses will not cause harsh taste to your flowers/buds..

maybe its in your curing/harvest methods? Or it could just be the strain itself, some indica strains have "harsh" smoke even after a cure, its just part of that strains characteristics/"flavor" profile :)

if you want to harvest in a week drop bloom now altogether there's not much time left to get those pk levels down

I have to agree with the Wizard.

If you had multiple plants, you could try different things on each one and see the differences first hand.

I just harvested two plants, one I "flushed" (ran pure 0 ppm h2o) for a week before chopping, the other I did not.

They taste the same.

The exact same.

N, P, K...it doesn't matter.

The dry and cure are what matters. And strain differences.

tell that to a hydro grower

it depends on what nutrient use and if it has a high cation exchange if thats the right term and how much you have fed untiltill harvest
as bizz is used sometimes in hydro it must not totally need microlife of media to buffer the process plus they say water the last 7 days but i think there schedule calls for to much bloom at the end

Uh...........................I am a hydro grower.

3 years in dwc and a couple years in recirculating 100% perlite hempy buckets.

I've used the entire linups of advanced nutes, dyna gro, fox farm, and lately I've been using BLOOM yellowbottles.

so do you not flush in dwc. When i was hydro i always had to flush the last 7 days to remove build up
even with plain water my ec still raised a few points in the last week

when i was hydro ive used canna aqua and hydro , vita link, flora form green dream and growth technology 2 part

now i run the biobizz line up in organics as well as the beneficial's

Your friend was using sulphered; which one should never use as "you get a harsh taste".
You should be fine with unsulphered. I use it all the time in soil, I use up to 1/5 bottle(i think its 750ml) mol / 9L water if mixed in for a one off microbe inoculation or for deterring ants.

At 1 tbs/g, you ought to be fine even if you water with it every watering(only in soil). The only problem is that if you use to much too frequently your buds will smell and taste very sweet, if given way too many nute bomb over doses will taste and smeel like molasses...which sometimes isn't good if you are growing a strain for flavor. I also suggest you use molasses till the cut; i find that when i use mol for the whole of flower it tends to lead to a fatter yield...

Remember...molasses feeds microbes and nutes feed plants...flush the nutes not the microbes! :blsmoke:

I feed with about 1tbsp molasses per half gallon of water, every watering for entire flowering period except the first week, but I like to live on the edge. Plants seem to enjoy my ways. I use unsulfured blackstrap molasses. In soil with Foxfarm nutes. Plants are nice and green all through flowering.
Plants just eat it up. :weed:
