HOLY FUCK.

The only way to put a stop to this kind of exploration is to legalize it and deregulate Cannabis completely so that the price falls enough that traffickers and criminals aren't tempted to exploit people to make money this way.

This isn't an argument against legalization; it's an argument that it MUST be done.

I don't think the price of pot needs to fall too much. People have worked out more or less what the minimum value is they can produce and deliver it at.
Consumers for the most part ar used to the current rates.
What will happen though is that people will vote with their feet and wallets for the best quality? If growers could bank their money and do business in the open, the saveings could be put to use to achieve these improvements. A win-win for everyone except the popo.

From $13/g at retail Cannabis shops here in Colorado? Oh yes, I'd say it has a long ways to drop.

Commercial producers brag about getting their costs below $1/g. That's still $450/lb!

I think great indoor can be grown for less than half of that, even.

I was born in Alberta, and if this country keeps spinning out of control like it has been for most of my lifetime I'll be coming back.

America has apparently abandoned all pretense of living up to its own espoused standards and ideals, in favor of the naked pursuit of raw greed and power at the expense of its people and its future.
And we will welcome you back with open arms. If you come back you should consider Ontario. Come home Canuck. LOL

Too many people are talking about cannabis being a commodity where people buy based on price alone. You have to look at weed the same way we treat bourbon, scotch, rum, tekillya, and vodka. You can buy a bottle of vodka for a few bucks or you can spend over $1 million/bottle, believe it or not.

I can't imagine 1 oz of bargain basement cannabis costing less than $40 per oz. By the same token (pun intented), there will be certified, organic, tested, well manicured bud for $400 per oz. Some people only want the best and won't care about the price difference.
I concur. The one most valuable lesson I learned over 40 years of selling is: "you never get stuck with good dope".

looks like canada is going to both legalize and nationalize pot. private grows will be limited to 4 plants at 1 meter max. SEVERE penalties for being over 4, SEVERE penalties for selling even small quantities. Penalties will be much harsher than even before mmj swung in.

Prices won't be falling north of the border. They are protecting the oligarch's. Look for that here as well.

If not, sub $40 oz's will be out there. Maybe shake, but you can already find deals like that.

What about giving someone weed for free?
I saw some US states have a rule, that you can carry 2 ounces and give someone 1 once for free...
If he wanted 2 ounces, he just needs to bring a friend with to physically receive it, the friend can then give it to him, and now he has 2 ounces to carry legally... such a stupid song and dance.

That's a disgusting way to treat the populace. A letter writing campaign is definitely in order.

Here in MA we can gift an ounce to anyone over 21. Just can't receive anything in return. You can only carry an ounce on you at a time, so no confusion there (not sure f registered med patients can carry more).
