if youre growing in dirt, dont worry about ph testing. If u notice problems flush the dirt completely with water and rewater with reg strength nutes. if u follow the directions on the fertilizer youll be fine tho.

you can get get an easy ph test kit, they use them for swimming pools costs like maybe $8. and it will last your for a long time. Once you know how much ph - or ph + to put in the water you really wont need to test ph anymore, water usually stays the same.

and then sometimes the tap water in your area after being ran through a filtration system and left to sit for a few days and nutrient enriched, just happens to be 6.2. luck of the irish i guess

I use H16 nite line in promix - when you use their prime if you start with half decent water you don't have to adjust ph-'was skeptical but it is so! Just finishing my first run with using their Prime- which I Beleive they say can be used with other nite lines (it's mostly organic stuff) and it works... Not one nite hiccup to say the least! Whole run- no burns no deficiencies nothing... I'm not connect d to them in anyway besides being a customer.... It is the way to go! Check out Heavy 16 Prime

You should still ph your water even in soil. It may not be necessary but it's better to take such a simple step in case anything goes wrong then you're not left with another factor.

Hydrogen=H = acid.....hydroxyl=OH = base
Acid lowers pH, it donates hydrogen.
Base raises pH it donates a hydroxyl OH.
HOH =h2o water.
There are a bunch of different acids and bases to do this.
To raise or lower the pH in tapwater usually takes about three-five times as much as raising or lowering the pH in reverse osmosis water.
I grow in soil a lot and I do test my water and adjust pH after adding any nutrients. For instance I use floranova in reverse osmosis water and after adding the nutrient my pH is 4.6. I'm not adding 4.6 pH solution to my soil even though it acts as a buffer. I put less than a cc of pH up and get it to 6.5. Good luck and I hope you invest more than 10 bucks on a pH meter so you don't get disappointed in the whole experience

ph is a measure of how basic or acidic a substance is.. it's a scale from 1 to 14, 1 being most acidic, and 14 being the most basic..
for growing cannabis, you want a more neutral number, to a slightly acidic mix of water and nutes.. for soil, around 6.5, slighly acidic, to about 7, neutral, tends to work best..

i agree about not worrying about the ph of soil as soil has enough buffers in it to naturally balance itself.. dolomite lime added to soil also helps to keep the ph in the perfect area..
