Crap! I Think I Dried My Buds Too Much...

I harvested some grow and hung the buds upside down in a closet off my garage. I left town for 3 days thinking they would be okay. Well, when I arrived home, I opened the door to find the temp inside the closet was 111 degrees as a light was left on.

My pot is so dry. Is there anything I can do to restore some moisture to smooth them out a little? I plan on smoking it as-is if there is nothing I can do at this point, but I sure would like to hear any tricks or advice.

Thanks.

I also have heard about a sliced apple. I am concerned about molds and shit if I stick a piece of fruit in my bud jars.

Do you suggest just placing orange peels into my jars with the bud?

:joint: Sure although it will make your bud smell like oranges, and you wouldn't need it in there to long.

usually its always something along the lines of sticking in some sort of fruit or vege inside with your buds. I piece of lettuce will work just as good and not give any taste or smell to your buds. I have tired the orange peel trick and left it in for too long and they grew mold.

A damp..not wet..sponge. Clean sponge/clean water. Put the pot it a tuppeware large enough that it fits and there's room for the sponge in one end...it shouldn't touch the pot (obviously). Dampen the sponge..put it in with the weed...seal it up...wait 24 hours. Should be slightly over wet when opened...should smell as it once did...then you can CAREFULLY REDRY IT THIS TIME.

good luck

I am certain there is a page about refreshing dried buds in the GROWFAQ.
I invested in a humidor, made for cigars and I love it. Every pot head ought to have one.

Uhhhh
hmmmm

I would put them in mason jars.
You want them to sweat.

I know they seem crisp on outside but, the insides are still moist.

You want to let them sweat.
Check by opening daily and letting sit with lid off for a little while.

The moisture in the middle should work it's way out.

The way you dried should take up to 2-3 weeks to truely dry the bud.

I will admit the temps got to high.

Hell I would go so far as to say that you should water cure some of it.

Happy tokin

If they dried in 3 days under a lot of heat, hasn't most of the good stuff been destroyed? It's not about how dry they are but how well they have been dried.

Am I correct (being a newbie)

i dont think you would use the humidor for drying, but to store your buds in so they never get completely dry and harsh. right roseman?

A humidor is a small canister, usually QUART size, to keep cigars in. you pur water (about one oz or 2) into a resorvoir, and it has high humidity in it, to keep your smoke freashly moist but not damp or wet. ALL Pipe and Cigar stores have them.

When you cure pot, you air dry it (in darkness) for 4 days and the leaves will dry out, very dry, even crispy, but the bud parts will still be very moist. Then you "cure" it for AT LEAST 4 weeks and no more than 5 weeks..

I've used carrot slivers for 24 hours and found it does the job nicely - formerly crisp/hard buds regain their soft sponginess. Doesn't add any discernible taste to the smoke either.

Well, after considering the posted advice, I employed a similar version to beenthere donethat. I wanted to avoid introducing ANY fruit or vegetative matter to the buds. In the past I tried a stalk of celery and completely ruined a half oz of my only dank. I appreciate all the orange, apple, carrot, and bread people who have re-hydrated with that method successfully. I appreciate your suggestions even though I chose not to use them. No disrespect intended.

Mold comes easily. I wanted to minimize the possibility of mold by not allowing the bud to come in contact with anything else.

What I did was take a "lidded" container large enough for the bud to lie out comfortably inside. Then I took a smaller plastic container and folded 2 paper towels and put them in the small container. Add 1/2 cup of BOILING water to the paper towels in the small container then place the small container in with the buds and close the lid tight for 4 hours.

I used 1/2 cup water because my container was pretty large. I would think the less water to make this work, the better.

Anyways, I am now curing my "used-to-be-crispy-as-hell" Sensi Star buds and am happy again. Thanks for the input.

here are pics of how I did it

Just curious about something, was the light you left on.. inside where you were drying? If so that light had a couple days to eat your THC up : (

Hope it all comes out great : )
