Critical Kush Flower Room

i setup this thread to post progress pics of two critical kush plants. both plants were put into flower at the same time, pheno #1 is in a 3 gallon smart pot & pheno #2 in a 5 gallon bucket. planted 50/50 coco soil mix.

both plants struggled early in veg but have since rebounded. i needed time to get dialed back in after being away from the hobby for an extended period of time. this journal will be mostly pictures and general observations. all feeding notes are hand written in a notebook i keep on hand.

i regret that i didn't take clones from pheno #1 because she's one of the heartiest plants i've grown. very resilient in sustaining growth through some early calcium complications. looks to be an early finisher too, if I had to guess i'd say she'll finish on time in the 55-60 day range.

pheno #2 looks like she'll need 9-10 weeks (63-70 days). she's been packing on the weight and her buds are visibly larger than #1. since seedling she's been a light green color like it's been uphill battle to get enough nitrogen to her roots. even though she'll likely out-yield #1 i don't regret not taking a cut. there are other genetics i'm eager to try and i still have one feminized seed if i want to revisit the strain later on.

in the flower room there's also a sour diesel plant growing in a single dwc. she's on day 35 of flower and by the looks of things she'll need 9-10 weeks as well. once all the plants are harvested i plan on resetting the room and changing a few things. i have a pack of ken's gdp seeds that i really look forward to growing next round.

here's a day 42 update from inside the tent. nutrient are watered in every other watering, in-between it's just calmag and recharge. pheno #1 will get likely get one more watering with nutrients (late week 7) before shifting to ph'd water.

quantum board parts will be arriving next week, i'm looking forward to bumping up the lighting in the room.

today is day 55 of flower for both the critical kush plants. I made a big time stoner mistake and miscalculated my flowering days by one week. this helps explain why i thought pheno #1 was an earlier finisher, because in actuality it's going to finish right around the 8 week mark.

i will scope pheno #1 later today with a usb microscope because my 30x loupe isn't quite powerful enough to zoom in on the trichs. both CK plants have been receiving just RO water for the past 10 days and the fan leaves have been yellowing off nicely.

pheno #2 will need another week or maybe longer.

here is a photo i took of the flower tents. 4x4 secret jarden that is 7+ years old with four quantum board (288's) on two slate 2 double heatsinks. both units are dimmed down to 200 watts in this photo.

here is a throwback of when the ladies went into flower. looking back it's almost comical how fast the sour diesel grew in the DWC. she was barely 4 weeks old when flipped, the other two were closer to 7 weeks since they were battling deficiencies from user errors.

DWC has since been bumped up in size to a 12 gallon tub (6 gallons of water) to avoid massive PH & water drifts from her drinking so much.

Pheno #1 Critcal Kush has come down. Took some photos of her before and after the big fan leaves were timmed off. Funny thing I forgot about until I was halfway through chopping was I did't top this plant. Some LST and super cropping was done on the main cola to let the lower branches catchup. Surprisingly the very bottom two branches were amongst the heaviest colas weighing in around 40G wet. I'll know approximate final yield on this plant in 7-10 days but I'm going to guess 3oz.

As prefaced in the opening post in this thread, this is my first time back after many years away from the hobby. I wasn't aiming for yield and instead focusing on completing the grow without hickups.

After the 2nd pheno of Critical Kush and DWC Sour Diesel are harvested I'm going to reset the room and shift to GDP's Original GDP. It'll likely be one plant in a 4x4 tent in 15Gal smart pot under four Quantum Boards that max out at 575W... I'll be focusing on yield then.

damn these look amazing!!!

did you flower them completely only under the quantum boards?
Yeah. 4'x4' tent with with one QB Kit (260W) & one Viparspectra LED 300 (134W) through veg and 6 weeks of flower. Bought the parts to assemble a 2nd QB (260W) to replace the Viparspectra.

Going to be using the Viparspectra in my other tent for vegetation.

Thank you for the kind words. When I was contemplating getting into LED's I was a little intimidated with a DIY COB build right off the bat. So when I stumbled upon the quantum boards I called up HLG. I don't recall who I spoke with, but the person was very helpful and informative. After our conversation I felt reassured I'd be happy with the performance of the QB's and the simplicity of assembly.

Nowadays I feel comfortable enough to begin integrating COB's into the flowering room with the QB's. I envision a 3x3 angled aluminum frame designed to hold the two QB kits. I want to add 6 Vero 29 type D's on the outside of the frame running on an HLG-480H-C2100. This would add 465W @ $409.80. 88 cents per watt of COB's.
When combined with the existing 2 QB 288 kits, that would put light output at 1,040 watts of light in a 4x4. I hate to use wattage when talking about LED's but that's easiest for me to relate to right now. I know I should be using micromoles, PPFD, and PAR.

My goal is to run 1 plant in a 15 gallon smart pot or 2 plants in 10 gallon smart pots. If yield was 1 gram per watt that would be 2.3lbs. If it was 1.5 grams per watt (which wouldn't be impossible whatsoever) yield would be at 3.4 lbs.

I'm just kind of thinking out loud, but yeah QB's & COB's rock!

I'm running 340 w. cobs in one tent & 200 of blurple in the other I don't know the proper terminology of all that stuff either besides wattage I guess ppm & ppfd might be easiest to relate to

That's USD$, right? I just have to bump this post because your buds are the most insane I have seen.

Go you! You are killing the fuck out of it. I only HOPE to WISH that my buds will look like this.

Cheers.

Dude, thank you very much for saying that. It put a big smile on my face to read, thank you for the support.

Also, yes I'm in the US so the prices I mentioned are all in USD.

Keep on growing my friend!

Critical Kush Pheno #1 is drying. Environment is a 2x2x4 tent with a 4' fan/filter exhausting out set on the lowest setting. Humidity has been sitting at 51%-52%, temps around 68. High & low for humidity has been 49% and 56% due to rain.

When I harvested I cut off all the fan leaves that stemmed out and left as much foliage as I could. The goal is a 7 day dry and doing a wet trim at 50% humidity would be hard to extend to 7 days.

These buds will be dry trimmed.
