hey, i have 1 half pint jar that is nearly done colonizing and i do NOT want it to go south on me, ill be putting the cake on wet vermiculite in a rubbermaid and steaming the vermiculite and alcohol cleaning the tub, i wil be growing the mushys in a basement with block walls and cement floors that might be moist, so i wont be airing the tub out there, ill go upstairs and spray lysol first.

should i cut the cake in half to give myself a slightly better chance to get thru fruiting without any contamination? or should i leave it n one piece and hope for the best?

what do pin's look like when there first starting?

No, wait till 100% colonization and wait a week after that so the mycelium can digest its food. It will improve yields and make the mycelium hardier to competitor fungi(contaminants/bacteria). Contaminants thrive in stale air with high humidity. A closed terarrium from FAE and humidity is definatly giving contaminants the higher end. Go to www.youtube.com and type in Lets Grow Mushrooms PF TEK 1-4. It's a video that is up to date and you will like as some people can't learn very well by reading yet can by visually seeing it done....
