Cutting cords or extentions

I'm making the leap to go from 16-32 lights. However using a flipbox. So I want to keep everything where it is. Some hoods won't reach. What do you guys do in a commercial application?

Splice and wirenut hoods using 12/2 to lengthen it?

Or

Buy all these extensions?

Check the specs on your ballasts, most have a rating on the max cord length from ballast to bulb. Personally, I'd take the hood apart and rewireright from the socket with new wire.

I'm fairly familiar with electric I've never had to use an electrician. Anyways, I seen this done and it looks like they just cut the cord near the end and wire nut it in two places but I see what you're saying about going straight to the hood.

Also I just bought a 250 foot roll of 6-2. All of my controllers need a ground and 2 positives. Except for my Helios. It has a spot for a neutral. I imagine that's because the timers built in?

Either way I'm just going to have to buy some 6-3 for it to be on the safe side.

What scares me is trying to do 32 Lights by myself. I have 3 relatives that help trim but I want to keep this new location unknown to everybody so I was going to trim at my old location.

I don't know we'll see.

Hmm sounds like dual 15 ton mini split time.

Not that much AC yet man. I live in upper Michigan. I could probably go without an AC almost 6 months out of the year if I didn't do sealed rooms.

My next and last (FINAL) move will be to a greenhouse. I realize that's the best way to go hands down. I figured I would do one run and then buy some ideal land with the proceeds and reapeat. Imma Try to get the mineral rights and put a gas well on it and just build a huge Greenhouse with supplemental lighting, drop cloths, backup generator and all of the works. Aiming to have it done in about two years or so... Hopefully... So probably 2020 lol....

That is if Trump hasn't gotten us all killed yet...
