okay, i am pretty new here and was wondering, if you are growing marijuanna and you dont want the plants to get out of control due to the smell and a mother that knows the smell of marijuana like her own body scent, is it okay to cut the growing period short at all? and l start the 12hour on 12hour off period early?

yes it is.
I veged my first grow for 3 1/2 weeks.
Most people will tell you to wait until they are atleast 12" tall.
The longer you veg though the better your bud will be in quanity and guality.
