Democrats have been touted as the peoples party and republicans as the party of business. I believe they are both the party of business and wealth. Democrats do more cover for the people, but overall, with a few exceptions, they always cave on the side of business and wealth.
Take health "reform": Basically with a couple of small exceptions, that legislation was a huge giveaway to the insurance industry. Even one of the most touted exceptions was directed at the upper middle class, letting your college kids remain on your health insurance, by percentage, how many college kids are really that sick anyway. As for the pre-sickness clause, that may have helped some and not getting kicked off for illness, some more, but actually gave the INS. companies 40Million more customers.
The republicans this last two year cycle have filibustered Somewhere over 140 times, leaving those bills on the cutting room floor. I'm basically aligned with the people, and if the democrat party wants to remain germain, they better get there as well.
I see little hope for the republicans getting aligned with the people though. They are claiming they got there this election, but the only thing they are aligned with is the tea party, and they are far from the people.
