Dave's Dual Area 51 Grow

Creating a new thread to continue my grow that I intended to be an Area 51/Inda-Gro experiment, but I had to ditch the Inda-Gro because it's too big (and too hot) for my closet. So I just replaced it with a second Area-51 light panel, this one the new RW-150 model.

So just to get caught up, my room now has 2 light panels:
  • Area 51 SGS-160 bought last November and
  • Area 51 RW-150.
If you want to go thru my previous thread to see how I got here, it's <HERE>.

One plant I was calling "Teeny" because she was the runt of the seedlings I planted at the time, is now growing nicely, but her sisters died a horrible death. Since her name doesn't make sense anymore, I'll be calling her LuSinDa from now on. Her strain is called LSD.

I also have one little seedling growing of the Liberty Haze strain. I'll refer to her as Libby.

The third plant I want to grow is a Tahoe OG seed that's sprouting. If she survives I'll call her
Tabitha.

Lusinda has about a month head start on these other gals, but somehow I need to start flowering all of them at the same time. That's because I only have one grow room. So the 2 sisters that I haven't even planted in their grow medium yet will probably be pretty small in the end. But small is better than nothing.

LSD gives a nice high. No couch-lock at all, tho.

I just finished toking my last grow of LSD yesterday...

I've grown that strain at least 2 times in the past and it's always given me both a head high and a couch-lock stoned feeling every time. The first harvest was awesome -- gave me a really weird feeling. The others were good, too. It works great for pain and insomnia. After drying out for 2 weeks, just 2 hits made me pass out in my wheelchair! It's pretty potent stuff...

My experience was different. I got my seeds from Barney's Farm, via The Attitude. Where did you get yours?

Same place as you every time in the past. It's a Barney's Farm strain. Now I get my seeds through Herbie's. They don't make you buy a t-shirt or anything extra just to get "stealth" shipping.

Here's a link to Herbie's: <Herbie's Seeds>

It's interesting that you didn't get a couch-lock from it. Maybe it affects me differently. Frankly, I haven't found any pot that didn't make me feel like spacing out on the couch. :bigjoint: And my brother smoked pot for a year but it never affected him at all. Maybe the difference is just in how our brains react to the stuff.

That could be. I grew under HID. I understand LEDs produce more CBDs? The description the Attitude gave about it said very high THC, little or no CBDs. So maybe I experience what I expected to experience. Placebo effect? I'm on several prescription drugs, too. There's so many variables, it's beyond me to figure it out. I would have preferred at least a little couch-lock.

I don't really get couch-locked anymore. I DO forget what the f- I was doing. That's kinda how I measure my weed...the "couldn't find my car keys" for 1-10 minutes scale.:eyesmoke:

I'm on some other Rx meds myself that affect the brain, so lots of variables.

If you follow that link to Herbie's Seeds, you'll see the LSD strain on that page. It says that CBD is 1.3%. That's not the highest, but it's better than a lot of them. I know that <Barney's Critical Kush> is supposed to have over 2% CBD, which is pretty high.

You won't believe this but I grew all my pot under a panel of T5 fluorescent tubes until last November. Somehow I managed to get some good harvests in spite of the poor lighting.

Yo Dave just wanted to wish you luck on this grow. I am subbed as I am thinking about upgrading my LED to an Area 51 brand as well and using my current LED for veg or for supplemental light in flower. I'm very interested to see how this turns out. This is actually my first post. I've used this site for a year or so for guidance and figured I'd introduce myself. I'm almost close to harvesting my second crop ever and was thinking about maybe starting a journal for #3. My first crop was a great success (borat voice) thanks to being close friends with a very talented grower who was able to guide me through it.

Couple questions...are both of those Area 51 lights the same model? Which model are they? Also how many plants do you think you could successfully grow under just one of them? I would love to be able to fit three or four flowering plants all about three weeks apart in age under one of them. I usually veg for a month to a month and a half. Do you think that's doable? More? Less? Thanks man and good luck!

Welcome to the forum, bro! The model numbers of the 2 Area 51 panels I'm using are:
  • Area 51 SGS-160 bought last November and
  • Area 51 RW-150.
Here's a picture of both that I took last Friday:

The SGS-160 was last year's model and the RW-150 is one of the current models. (Now on sale for $465 instead of $555.) These both have 72 LEDs with some red and some white. The red ones can be switched off during veg and on during flowering when the plants need more red light.

There are 2 other models of Area 51 panels, one being a smaller version of the RW and the other being an all-white panel. It's the XGS-190, which contains 72 Cree XTE Warm White 3750k LEDs.

People tell me that both the XGS-190 and the RW-150 are very good and you can't go wrong with either.

You can get more info at the company's web site: a51led.com

Now if you veg a plant for a month and a half, it'll get pretty big, right? Some of us grow just one big plant under each LED panel. In my grow room I'm going to try growing 3 plants under these 2 panels. One will be big and the other 2 small this time, but I think I can fit 3 full-sized plants in this space.

If you want to see some successful grows with Area 51 panels, take a look at some of The Dawg's grows under them. He gets 8 oz per plant. That's not bad for something that only pulls 160 watts!

8oz?! Deeezam! I'll check out his grows. Thanks for the info. I don't see the like button or +rep button that everyone speaks of but I think it may be due to me only being newly active on the site

Nice thread, i have used the sgs-160 panels. If I was you I would go for all 3 plants to be big as two lights can definitely handle it.

What in the world is this poontang growing on the Perlite behind Lusinda???

I just noticed it today when I started tying down Lusinda’s branches. It was hiding under the leaves. I don’t know what it is, but I sprayed some anti-fungal stuff on it that’s made from Neem oil. If that doesn’t kill it, I’ll try some hydrogen peroxide. So far the leaves are looking ok.

Here’s Lusinda after tying down her 4 main branches:

(After taking these photos I trimmed off a bunch of the fan leaves that were touching the ground.)

The little Tahoe OG sprout just barely popped her head out of the hole in the Rapid Rooter plug:

I might wait another day or so before planting them in the other bucket.

A second Tahoe OG seed is doing something now:
