Decided to Get My Hands Wet Again

Ok, after watching everyone here have fun without me, I decided to get my hands wet again, or atleast dirty.

1 rule I have learned in life was; if dealing with any heat source, get a smoke alarm. I never hear it told on here, but this peice could save your life.

as of right now, I am using cfl for seedlings. they do not get that hot and you can put alot in a small space. 42watt is what I am using. picked each one up at walmart for like $8.50 a peice.

as you will find out here, I like to do things ghetto! hey it saves me money and I like to use things around the house that is not getting used.

to start the babies out, I used to use colored cups. after reading widow makers thread, I changed my mind. i always had a hard time guessing when to transfir, but now I can see the roots. when the seedlings are ready to transfir, they will go into 2 gal pots.

If you have an empty soda bottle laying around, turn that thing into a water container. with little cups it is hard not to get water all over the place. I took a mountain dew bottle, and while using a screw, put a couple of holes in it.

for the newbs here, foxfarm is the greatest nutes on the planet (I think so, but my ass is known to be wrong from time to time though). I will be using big grow in the veg stage, and move on to something else for flowering.

ok, let me tell something. my local hydro store went out of business. I had to get some soil until I could find a new one (found one today up in boardman, Ohio).

I am using MG (man this shit sux). but if you are a new grower, MG is sometimes all you can get.

I am using Schultz perlite. my mix is supposed to be 50/50 but it is not. I made it more like 65MG/35Per.

I picked up this little soil PH tester for like $10 at lowes. hell, it works and since I am dealing with MG, I need all the help I can get.

if you ever grow, a moisture meter helps. got this at walmart for $5. it takes the guess work out, and I like things idiot proof!!!

you can pick up a thermometer anywhere. I keep my room aroun 80 degrees F.

I needed a timer also. this has 8 settings per day and only set me back $10. my babies are on 18/6 light right now.

i took a TV stand and converted it to my clone/seedling chamber. eventually I will paint the walls white, but I am lazy so who knows? I cut up a tarp that was laying in my basement and used it to cover the opening when I needed to. I am going to leave this room in my bedroom so every morning I can get up, scratch my balls, then check on my kids. I'll update every so often and show picks of my babies (BIGBUD) in my gallery.

OK, after going to my new local store, found some more things to use.

i stopped fuking around with cheap-ass soil. bought some ocean forest from foxfarm. i like it cuz it does not have nutes already in the soil. that means full manupilation.

only snapped two babies to show. the rest look the same. I am trying different temps to see which one is the best. i have 2 in 80 deg and 2 in 70 deg. lets see which is the best. they are 6 days old and i already moved them to larger pots. put them all in 2 gallon pots. if i like them, i have 5 gal pots to keep as mothers.

I've really been leaning toward bubble for the clones. I see a huge benefit in it. found a good one for like $90 american. it seemed easy to duplicate also, which i like the idea of.

will keep you informed as the grow continues. PEACE!

feel free to post on here also. I am not an asshole and won't get mad.

this is what I do in between work, growing, raising my son, being a husband, and smoking. Don't be suprised if my gamertag is the same as my name here. PEACE!

FYI, different temps a bad ideal. the 70 started to die. put them back into the 80 deg. temp. they have since perked back up. whew, close one.

ok, its been a couple of days since my last update and things are going pretty good so far.
1st plant picture - this is one of the plants that were in the colder temperature. she is stunted as of right now. has stayed at 2 inches and not grown since. is ok, i have faith in her. as long as she is green, thats good for me.
2nd pic - this is the other lady that was in the colder temp. she finally just started to grow. she is now at 3 inches and counting.
3rd pic - ok this is my next girl she was in the 80 deg temp and she is doing great. good node seperation. could not ask for much more. she is 3 3/4 inches.
4th pic - this is the golden girl. she is growing just like a weed should. no complaints about her. she is 4 inches tall and filled out nicely.
5th pic - shows the height of the fourth plant.
all of the girls are full of vibrance and hope. soon we will be moving into our veg area.

found something really nice to measure your nutes with. it is a child dosage meter. pick it up at walgreens for $5 USD. it has all the measurements you need right up to 1 tsp. makes using fox farm nutes a piece of cake.

BIGBUD = Stinkiness

they are only about 2 weeks old and are already stinking up the room they are in. had to breakdown and make a carbon scrubber. giving a shout out to sergeant stoner for the scrubber link. Dude, this thing went together like a dream. had to improvise some places due to the fact lowes did not carry everything, but I actually got the right pieces without having to rig-up anything. A+ for the post sarge!

mine holds 18oz of activated carbon. I put an easy access hole in the bottom for emptying and refilling. shoved 2 nylon stockings over just for cosmetic purposes.

ok decided to post them again figured sonce it was one month why the hell should I not put them into the flowering cycle. the first pic show all four of the although they are bigbud I am starting to think that one of them is a kush strain. the one in the lower right is the experiment. I take her to the brink of death then dring her back. sadly I somewhat enjoy this. i guess all people are inherintly evil ha.

the pic on the right is to show that you can get good results with cfl's for all of us broke mother fuckers. she was babies though.

only had 2 gallon pot so I had to double pot them. they were drinking so fast I had to water every 2-3 days. so got them in 4 gallon pots now. might as well kiss keeping them short goodbye.

ok I got the unofficial skinny on the sexes. three are fem and one is male. just started to show today. the one that I think is a kush strain turned out to be the male.
