Different lighting schedule?

So I don't know if this has been done or asked about before but I was wondering if since the plants need 12 hour dark period to to flower, and because there's 24 hours in a day it's of course going to be 12/12.

But what if you gave them 12 dark and 18 light.
Could this possibly increase yield/potency?

Maybe try the Gas lantern method instead.
