Direction of bulb

Hi All,

I've a 1.25 x .75 metre grow going under a 600W HPS. The bulb is mounted horizontally under a dutch barn type reflector.

I hung the lamp centrally in line with the longest side. Now I'm wondering does more light get emitted from the sides of this setup and perhaps I should consider hanging the lamp at right angles to the longest side.

I'd appreciate anybodys thoughts on this - facts and figures would be even better.

Thanks

I'm having a hard time visualizing what your saying, I have a 400wMH horizontally under a reflector too. Mine is completely horizontal and all the light comes down.
Get some pics on here if you can.

I too am not sure what you are asking but a point to remember is that a 600 watt system will cover approx a 4X4 - 4X5 area.

The length is 1.25 metres and the width is .75 metres.

I suspect that if there is any difference in the 2 setups it may be only a couple of percent but hey every % helps

Hi,

I use the same reflector with a 400,
I use B set up and my room is 90x70

90Cm seems to be the limit.
I think 125 is pushing it even with a 600.

It's a SCROG grow so the complete area is full of bud. I hadn't really thought about what way to hang the bulb so I hung it as in pic A simply because it looked neater, but now having ruminated over a couple of spliffs on the matter I'm tempted to hang it as in pic B

It'd be interesting to know if someone had a light meter and knew if there was any discernable difference between the 2 ways of hanging the bulb

you're right about 125 being the limit - the buds at the very end are looser than the others, but a loose bud being better than no bud I'm happy to have it hanging on there.

I think I will swap over to B
