DIY Air Conditioning??

Has anyone out there tried using on of them DIY air conditioners that you see on Youtube in their grow tent or grow closet that runs on the hot side??
It looks like a super easy way to deal with high temperature problems and for cheap!!

Cooler, fan, PVC, ice and... BLAM! 54 degree air coming out for 5-6 hours!!

Anyone out there tried one of these yet??

looks like a great way to increase humidity at the same time but if thats needed too its a win win.
I see this (first time, thanks) as a frikken funny ass camping wrig...on it.....

now fellas.....if you gotta line on free dry ice....whammo ! two birds with one stone!!! c02 for the win!!!
also there are sealed cubes plastic/metal/etc filled with water/antifreeze/voodoo? and you freeze them, refreeze them
and repeat. if you had a tray in the freezer filled with these to exchange.....the cost of ice, running a freezer both negate the savings over even a small portable ac unit.....but that takes power to run so...

back to free ice...maybe check out that vid Mosquito Coast, he makes ice in the jungle,

me too but I'd be a star at the campground/trailer park right. the toothless wonders would gather round like june bugs in dirty kids' hair by the fire. They'd stick their tongues out and drip their last sip o Milwaukees Best down the fronts of their bib overalls while mustering the strangest red headed girl call you ever heard. places let you plug in electricity for free and some cooter'll be bringing an ice machine to one up me for sure. be nice to retro fit the beer cooler and dual purpose it.

I got a one of those large black and yellow plastic crates from Low Depot. I put a $16 Kedsum 550GPH 40W pump in it. That is outside the room. Drilled two holes thru the sheetrock and used an old garden hose as piping material. That goes to a transmission cooler sitting in front of a squirrel cage fan (from a commercial bathroom exhaust fixture). So it recirculates air in the room cooling like a car engine radiator and fan combo. Derale 15831 cooler core $40. Total $56 + old garden hose and tub. So it goes pump-> gardenhose cold supply-> Radiator in front of fan-> gardenhose warm return-> dumps back in to tuff crate.Repeat.
You can add ice to the tub for extra cooling have not tried it.. I see this for someone who needs a cheap way to get past a few 90+ degree days. Works in sealed or open room environment.

Your right
running that thing could cause an increase in humidity BUT what if its inside a closet growroom using a negative pressure method for fresh air? Could a 420 CFM fan exchange the air fast enough in a 2x4x8 closet before the humidity becomes a factor? Just wondering

They say a cooler full of ice lasts 5-6 hours and the only time you would really want it is week 6-8 of flower time so you would only need to put ice in the cooler 2x a day for 2-3 weeks. It might be a slight inconvienence if you dont mess with your plants much but I look at my plants 5,6,7,8 times a day. I guess all I can do is try it and see what happens

Yep. I have one in my tent. I don't use ice, it actually makes it less effecient. It uses around 3 gallons of water a day and has lowered my tent temps by avg of 8 degrees and raised the humidity 15%. I bought another humidifier from Walmart and it's basically the same design. I keep both running in the tent to maintain around 50% RH.

I used a 5 gallon bucket, submersible pump, and fan. Evap cooler blanket from home depot.
