Ya I looked at all that I thought maybe I missed something. I'm sure all the info will be out soon. I'm curious how efficient they are compared to the qp they use the same diodes if there are more of them per PCB I imagine it would be worth the increase in price. But much harder to diy than these QB.
the diodes look to be packed closer than QB's, maybe they aren't as good thermally as QB's?

"1000w 400v HPS has 2000 umoles/j" yes, directly under the bulb maybe. But due to the circular radiation pattern, up to 30% of that is gone to reflector losses whereas with led the light is all aimed downward at up to at most, a 120 degree spread. Less light wasted.

And take a look at the trends going on in the DIY area. People seem to be having some hella good grows from LOW wattage LED lighting. Seems to me maybe we are all missing something here. I think its time to put away all the math and theory and start looking closer at what we are growing with these lights. I'm following a guy on another forum who I suspect will exceed 2gpw in a 4'x4' space with just 4 cobs running at 55 watts each. Final results should be in soon. I'm of the opinion the part of COB success is superior light quality.
2g/w is impressive but less than 1lb in a 4x4 isn't. I saw the plants they look good.

And ok I'll put the math down...lol

Wandering thought, is this a disadvantage for led? Being a 2d source vs a 3d traditional lamp. Also thinking about chip die spacing and qb emmiter spacing, would it be a closer comparison if the distance from sensor were proportionaly equal to this spacing? Or at a distance that would closely duplicate a given distribution area? Then what? I'd ask if the qbs can be bent or shaped to mimic a 3d source? Why? Seems like we live in a 3d world.
Maybe not ideal for sphere testing, but it's awesome for the intended purpose!

Any idea how many diodes are on the chili PCB? Looks like alot I'm also curious how big that board is. The cover chili has for the PCB is really cool aswell.

384 Samsung LM561C 3000K S6
8 Lumileds Luxeon C Red (635nm)
36 Lumileds SunPlus 20 Deep Red (660nm)
14 Lumileds SunPlus 20 Royal Blue (445nm)
4 Everlight EAUVA35352 (390nm UVA)

That must be for the 175W PCB - I think the 90W PCB has half that

3D? no, not an advantage, whats not falling directly on the plant then is subject to loss in being reflected. Thats why lenses are used to narrow the beam even more, reduction in the "3D" losses

yes, we all want to grow a pound or more, but even in many legal states, possession of that much is not legal. So why use 500 watts ( as example )when you can grow more than you need with 210 watts? There's a niche for ever grower. Need more? Ad a couple more cobs and a plant or two!

I think you need to read the law's more closely, most legal states you can have as much in your home as you can grow legally but can only carry a certain amount in public. It seems you are trying to rationalize small yields and micro grows.

Here we have laws the specify what we can carry outside of our home and how much we can have in dry storage.

In MA, we can keep what we grow in our homes, but can only have less than an ounce in public. There are bills in the process that would change that if passed.
Yea i mean honestly if we could only grow what we could carry who the hell would grow, it takes 3 months+ to get a good grow in(that's 3 week veg 9 week flower), if you could only grow 1-2 oz what a waste of time that would be. Dispensaries even sell 2 oz at a time and have a special name and day for it, they call it two ounce tuesday always good deals on that day.

Just when I thought I had found the ultimate deal on a light I have been wanting for years (an Apache Tech AT600)...I happened onto a live chatroom feed from former forum member Growmau5 who put on the video cast with Vitaly from ChilLED grow lights.. It seems that Vitaly has been working on some Quantum Board designs, too...His, however, incorporate some blue and red mono diodes, too....supposedly achieving some crazy numbers like 2.7 umols per joule or something (Don't quote me on that, though...because I don't even know what that means! ;)) But, as badly as I had been wanting that ApacheTech, I started to think about the weight....all those fans...older technology....etc....but I just feel compelled to stay up on the newest and best stuff on the market, today.

So, yeah, I am onboard for the QB's...I just have to determine which design application is best for me.
