DIY with Quantum Boards

yes, we all want to grow a pound or more, but even in many legal states, possession of that much is not legal. So why use 500 watts ( as example )when you can grow more than you need with 210 watts? There's a niche for ever grower. Need more? Ad a couple more cobs and a plant or two!
I figured everyone wants to get the most out of their space. There I go being an "ass" by assuming.:weed:

Just when I thought I had found the ultimate deal on a light I have been wanting for years (an Apache Tech AT600)...I happened onto a live chatroom feed from former forum member Growmau5 who put on the video cast with Vitaly from ChilLED grow lights.. It seems that Vitaly has been working on some Quantum Board designs, too...His, however, incorporate some blue and red mono diodes, too....supposedly achieving some crazy numbers like 2.7 umols per joule or something (Don't quote me on that, though...because I don't even know what that means! ;)) But, as badly as I had been wanting that ApacheTech, I started to think about the weight....all those fans...older technology....etc....but I just feel compelled to stay up on the newest and best stuff on the market, today.

So, yeah, I am onboard for the QB's...I just have to determine which design application is best for me.

I'm currently building a 9 QB set up driven at 1050 ma wired in series for a 5x5 area, should be in that crazy number range.

Are you trying to see how few watts it takes to produce well?

Would be interesting to see what 20 watts per sqft of QB does.

Oh you might be talking about the QB304 model. If so scratch what I just said.

Around 600 watts of 288's at 1050 ma to cover a 5x5 =about 24 watts sq/ft. Already know you can get huge yields with under 30 watts sq/ft of older 3070's and 3590's.
Well damn I've been sleeping on this new wave LES movement using HPS. I'm waking up real soon. I'll be doing 675w of COB over a 4x4 to see what happens. Probably end up recycling the raptors.

Yo guys I just became an active member, I read the first page of the thread and wow there was skepticism on QBs but i clicked on the last page 146 and now everyones is using it ..haahahha. Well Im a noob can someone piece together a list of thing I need to grow at least a lb in a 5x5 tent? Thanks in advance. Im still skimming through the post but I thought id ask to see if someone could help a brother out.

Dont have any QB's myself (yet) but from what i've read you'll probably be good with 4 boards running about 100w each (might be overkill, not sure), you can either get the boards and two HLG240H driver each to power two boards, or you could always just buy two 260w kits for a quick setup..

the point of the grow was to demonstrate the power of cobs, nothing more, thats the point your not getting. If that can be done with 4 cobs, it can be done with 8 cobs, etc. I'd like to see this test continue, adding a couple cobs each grow until the point of diminishing returns negates the worth of adding more, then we'll see the space maximized.

wondering how long until they show up since i have a feeling they're gonna sell out in an instant...
Gotta be quick. ;)

I got some on the last round complete with heatsinks. The frame is built, I'm just waiting for the driver to arrive. Ironically, it looks like my long lead item will be thermal paste. wtf amazon?

I guess I'll have to order it from someplace else.

You don't use thermal paste on quantums
