DIY with Quantum Boards

I'm thinking HLG will come out with some type of add on. That is if it's really needed, I'm getting towards the end of my photo grow and couldn't be more impressed. I keep thinking of adding some far reds or other spectrum lighting will make it better but I don't see how it can ?

guys i'm thinking of this setup but with 3 boards equaly spread with the HLG240-54. but i have second thoughts for the 260w kit with the 2 boards placed the other way.. i just want to run them cool. what about it? First grow will go with 4x4g pots and i'll try to lst/scrog

@Budzbuddha that's why i'll go for Dinafem Blue Thai.

I was lookin at the ChilLED Gen 2 kits .... Maybe that between some QB on a rail .

Gotta love sativa strains .... They make you hyperfocus on shit. Lol

Some mockups ; i'm thinking out loud about.

Seems like there would be a cheaper solution. I know the 12 band spectrums are popular, but I wonder if there is anything to it. I have two 12 bands, and I can honestly say, I am noticing faster root development in my cloner. Not sure if its the 12 band, or just the UV and IR that is added. Because I have a similar vipar first gen, which sucks and has most of the other spectrum colors.

I finally got my driver and finished the skeleton of the build. I still have more to do, but the build is 2xQB288's in series driven by a meanwell hlg-320-c2800a. I've got it dialed down to 275 W. The other lights are CREE XM-L2's, 5k and 6.5k mixed. I already had them and figured they would make good side fill since this is a 3x3 tent.

Even at 27w W on the qb's and 60 w on the xm-l2's, I have twice the lux then I did with a mars 192 (reflector series - it actually pulled 400 w at the wall). I'm running 65k lux in the center of the panels at canopy height which drops to about 40k at the edges. Total pull at the wall right now is about 335 watts.

I'll get some temp readings after its run for a while, but initial readings were low.

I know, lumens are for humans. But I don't have a fancy pants par meter. ;)

EDIT: I checked the temp on the heatsinks with an IR thermometer after several hours at 275W. 110 deg F. I do have a tent fan that is blowing across them so I don't think I have to worry about heat. I'll up the watts each week until I'm at full power at the end of flower.

Oh, and I fused the dc output of the driver and connected earth ground to the frame. Still looking into a thermal fuse but if this thing doesn't get warm I may just skip it.

Here is the DEEP RED only going on after Quantum kicks off for the night.
It is on a timer to run for 30 min AFTER QB rigs turns off and 30 min BEFORE rig lights up.

For a solo unit , it has a pretty good spread. Pics dont due it justice.
My ipad sucks at photos , but believe me it is a deeper red than the photo.
I wanted to show you how much the plants leaf surface is taking the red light. The mylar ( 2 mil ) is helping im sure too.

Looking forward to @robincnn and @Stephenj37826 ----------- SLATE 3

Time to break out a sketchpad ...

Cool. Did you build it?

No ...... It is made by DormGrow - 90watt led

The G8-90RR LED Red light by G8LED is added to the veg/flower lights during flowering maximize yields. The red spectra are absorbed by the plant for increased size during flowering. This G8LED is compact and can be used in almost any space. Add the 90W Red at the start of flowering to increase wattage and the ratio of red wavelengths during flowering to obtain the best yield. The light can be hung right next to or below the main panel or angled as desired.

About $160 bucks. What is the verdict?
