Even now that you are finally acknowledging the difference between a PCB and a light that uses several of those PCBs in a specific configuration, you are still ignoring the Samsung strips that several of us have mentioned.
The fact is watt for watt, these LM561c s6 diodes are more efficient than our current cob options. You can fudge that by spending more money up front and using more COBS at lower current, but you can do the exact same thing with LM561c diodes for the exact same effect.
The fact is that's not a fact. That's the problem with HLG cultists. You guys act like the whole things been solved. Its like, "Pack it up guys, we're done here." - No...We're far from a product that will be king as long as HPS was.
Umm.... that's a 50% increase in the number of boards, diodes and power. So why on earth would you NOT expect a 50% increase in light?
Because that isn't how this works. You're not going to get a 50% increase in PPFD just because you added 2 additional boards to the equation. The 6-board model I made shows huge flaws, and there really isn't a way to configure the boards to make it better. Its a bit easier to achieve better uniformity with powerful diodes 28mmx28mm in size. Regardless, even assuming a clean 50% increase in PPFD, the rig falls short as shown in my previous post. Yes, increasing HLG-550's PPFD by 50% still results in lower PPFD than a 757w, 14 COB array.

You won't get a 50% increase in PPFD by adding 2 QB288s. Even if you did, you still fall short. But I'm glad we've shed some light on the HLG-550's uniformity issues, and established that it takes more than (1x) HLG-550 to replace (1x) 1000w HPS.

But you haven't grown with a HLG 550 before, and you said yesterday you get a pound off your blockbuster 1k fixture with a new bulb. So if everyone is getting a gram per watt on a HLG 550, would you not be getting slaughtered? No offense man, I'm just trying to make sense of all this graph bull shit.

It was a sarcastic response to your endless attempts at baiting me for no reason. If you can't understand how to input data offered by a company into a graph generator, and then observe that visual representation of the product before purchasing it, then no one is go in going to be able to help you make sense out of something so blatantly obvious to others.

Yes, it actually IS. No matter how you want to slice it, 50% more of the same diodes running the same current per diode makes precisely 50% more LIGHT.

Whether or not you can get the spread you want, in the space you want, is an entirely different kettle of fish.

As for me, I prefer Samsung strips over both Quantum boards and COBs..

If anything, my comments would make me a Samsung cultist as I have repeatedly mentioned Samsung strips, and I didnt compare it against HPS, you did. I compared it against COBs, which are less efficient.

lol, the fact that your comparison was 14 cobs vs 6 QBs just underlines exactly what I said you were doing. Spending more money up front to increase the efficiency of the system by using many more COBs. But instead of scaling it up 50% like you did from the HLG 550 to a 6 board custom, you scaled up 133% from a PLC-6 to your custom build. Its a ludicrous comparison, based in you not wanting to feel like you just built last gen tech.
I'm just gonna dip from this thread now, before you start lying about how much your build cost(while still ignoring samsung strips).

Does it matter what kind of metal these Qb132s are mounted to? They conveniently seem to fit on quarter sized baking sheets (13"x9").

Also if I mounted all 4 to separate fixtures would I have to run a separate ground back from each for a remote driver setup outside the tent?

Got my boards hooked up using 18g stranded lamp cord wire (300v rating). 4x QB132s 2700k They are super bright!!

Still undecided on frame and whether fixtures have to be grounded though

Got a 48" by 32" tent, I have a current 250w Citizen/Fusionboard(4 cobs on corners, fusionboard in middle) setup that I think covers a 32"x32" marvelously. What do you guys recommend to fill the other area of the tent?

I would like to run 2 QB(200 watts) on the side of the DIY COB build but would that be overkill (450 watts), I probably would have bought them already but I can't find heatsinks. To be clear, Im thinking the cob light can cover 32" by 32" which leaves 16" by 32" for the QB's to cover.

Would I need a heatsink running two QB288's at 2100ma?


Or could you guys maybe reccomend a build using the QB132's?
