Do I have BANANAS I My Grow Room ?

I have four beautiful plants in the fifth week of flower after 60 day veg that I've mainlined and grown big.

I noticed a some odd yellowing on top of most colas on my Northern Lights x Skunk and want to confirm that these are the dreaded bananas.

Are these actual bananas ( hermies)we are looking at?

If so, what can be done to remedy this problem? Can I just chop them off?

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Bananas for sure. Don't let any open if plan to salvage your buds.
Thanks for the response.

Should I cut them off?

By the looks of it I may need to chop the first 1/2 inch of the affected tops off.

Well, if you were going to try and take them off, one way is to get a cup of warm soapy water or isopropyl alcohol, and go around pinching off the clusters of bananas, trying not to let them split and release pollen, and then dunk your fingertips in the cup and rub the bananas off into the solution. Soapy water is probably easier on the skin...

Thanks for the response.

Hey dude. I've experienced nanners the last 2.. it's a nightmare I won't lie. Really does your head in.. They look fairly mature, only way imo is go in everyday with a pair of tweezers and thoroughly check buds. I know it's a nightmare but it is salvageable I promise..

Out of interest, how do you think you've got them?

Thanks for the responses guys... wouldn't have known what to do without all you guys feedback.

I have taken the plant outside and picked off nanners for about 2 hours.

They were all over the half top of the buds and this is a big plant in a 7 gallon pot.

It looks like they're gone for now but will keep a close eye on it as it still has about 4 weeks at a minimum.

IMO it could have been either two things:

1- I am in souther California and it's starting to warm uo so it's been getting about 85-87 F degrees inside the tent at the highest point in the day.

2- This particular plant is the biggest drinker out of 4 and her 7 gallon pot goes dry faster than the others and I water them about every 3rd day.

So with that said, all other variables are under control in the grow room so it could've been any of these two items or something else I am Unaware of.

Thanks again for the encouragement.

Hey bud. Sorry you are having issues with chicks with dicks. (: I've ran into a few myself a few years back. Just wanted to throw it out there and mention " light leaks". When I had issues with this, I ended up finding the smallest light leak at the top of my room I was flowering in. The way I found it was went in there with the lights off, the lights on in other room and looked all along edges and tops of both sides of my room. Don't know if that's the case here, just thought I'd share.

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd uodate the thread with the latest.

I ended up letting the plant finish..however, the plant did not just produce a few nanners it is completely infested with nanners. I think it stopped focusing energy into producing buds and focused completely on nanners.

Interesting thing is there are no seeds to be found on the plant anywhere just buds with nanners all over, which is contrary to what one would would think would happen in a situation like this.

It looks like at least a 1/4 to 1/2 lb plant so at this point I am just debating what to do with it..

Part of me wants to call it a loss and never run these genes again but it pains me to just throw away the plant considering the yield, even though it is poor quality buds covered in nanners.

What do you think? What would you do in a situation like this?

Well, if it didn't produce seeds I wouldn't worry about it really. Just dry it and treat it as if it was a plant without nanners. Won't hurt you or anyone else one bit to roll one once it's dried and partake. Hell if you did run it again and the same thing happens I myself would be trying to take a branch and pollinate it back to itself and maybe try and work out the herm trate. Being if you could find one that wasn't that bad of course. My main reason why I'd do that is because she sure looks like a heavy yielder, and she looks like she has nice trich coverage also. So that's two damn good traits to look at.... just saying (: nice job non the less.

What nutrients did or are you using on these ladies?
I am using Emerald Harvest nutes. I like the line because its simple to use and not a lot of products you need to purchase.

She definitely is a heavy yielder. I'll post some dry numbers when it's dry. Thanks for the support brother! :)

Hell yeah... never heard of tht line before. I use GH 3 part myself. I tell ya, the best out of all the lineups I've tried over the past years has to be General Organics hands down... never ran into not 1 issue with tht line. No problem on the support bro.. Glad to be around & kicking. (: if you ever get a chance swing by my thread and check out what I have going on.. Getting ready to start breeding some new strains I just received as a gift. Nightcap x Stardawg x Lemon Alien Dawg. Plus Purple Voodoo x Stardawg x Lemon Alien Dawg. & then good old Purple Voodoo. Should turn out interesting

I want to update the thread with the final outcome of the situation with the nanner plant.

In the end, it yielded just a little over 6 ounces.

I had the buds tested for potency and it came in at 16.61% which is not bad considering the circumstances.

I would dare to say that if this strain would have devoted it's resources to developing heavy, resin laden buds instead of nanners throughout, it would have yielded 1/2 pound per plant and possibly could have had higher potency.

In the end, I am happy things turned out this way as I was going to toss the plant at one point. But I will surely not run Northern Lights X Skunk strain from G13 labs breeder again.
