Need is a strong word. It depends on what you consider to be a "need". Do you "need" a 3/4 pound home-made burger with the onions and seasonings ground up and cooked into the meat with fresh tomatoes and all the trimmings? Or do you just "need" food?

You don't need it in the "your plants will grow without it" sense.

However, I'd say you need it because the degree of difference a good bloom booster can make is very significant. I use Bud Blood, Big Bud, Overdrive (in that order) as my main boosting regimen and I won't touch anything else.

So for me I say yes, you need a quality bloom booster. But some people feel they get along fine without it. If they're happy that's great. I wouldn't be.

yes, if you want an organic grow you dont need a bloom booster, the organic nutes will be enough.

is it ? i have no idea. i use carboload to feed beneficals
Yes you are right, its basically molasses. Bloom boosters usually have crazy numbers with a 50 for phosphorus. I got a free sample of the new Bloomtastic from Atomi, never used any before but might give it a shot. They also gave me a free sample of the new Purple Max Just called Snow Storm Ultra, its purple max but is clear and isnt supposed to burn like maxx did.

I used Alaska MorBloom 0-10-10 as a bloom booster in my last grow. It seemed to work great. The buds really swelled. Not sure if I needed it though. I was using the whole BMO line.

Bloom boosters don't necessarily have massive PK numbers. It's a question of ratio. How much P and K there is compared partly to each other, but mostly to N.

Look at Big Bud - it's 0-2-4 or something like that. It doesn't really matter what the numbers are, it's the ratio and the availability. Pure Nitrogen would be 100-0-0 but the plants couldn't use it.

Big Bud isn't OMRI listed, but personally I'd use it all the same. The difference in how much bigger your buds get is worth it to me.

hey rhizome, i use the full bmo line too. instead of mixing with water, i mix with a compost tea composted of 4tbs wormcastings, 1tsp blackstrap molasses, and 1/2tsp seaweed per gallon.

i am interested in using a bloom booster and have seen you recommend alaska morbloom. could you give me some more info on it? thanks!

I was using Canna's BioBoost for a couple of grows but it's just too pricey for me, so a friend recently talked me into Humboldt Nutes Big Up powder 0-33-23 as a replacement, but haven't used it yet. I'm kinda afraid to since I haven't heard anything about it yet...I picked up a little bottle of Canna's PK 13/14 for $10, and I plan on trying that on a few plants to see if there's a big difference, but I know that's not in their purely organic line.
