Do males grow faster in veg than females?

My first time growing from regular seeds. I had a big issue where my pH pen fucked up and I must have watered the seedlings with the wrong pH... Long story short, I thought they were done for, but after a 3 weeks, they have come back fully.

So they are 4-5 weeks and obviously behind schedule, but there are 3 plants out of 10 that have stretched out like crazy, like more than twice the height of the rest. 2 very clearly showed male preflowers and I tossed em last night.

So after researching, I've gotten mixed messages. Some people say only preflowers determine sex, so why are these 3 stretching like this? is it possible that this third stretchy plant could be a female?

Should I be safe to assume the other 7 bushy plants are female?

Take a look, all of these seeds popped a month ago, but there is a clear difference. Would love to hear some experienced advice.

Males have a trait of stretching higher then females so the pollen will drop onto the females....then again I've had the shortest plant out of the room end up being male.
To be 100% just wait for the sex to show.

Learnt that first two times I grew from random bad seeds.
Would plant 10 of them then keep the 5 best and give the 5 worst away.
Then would end up with 3 males and 2 females. And ones I gave away would usually be 4 females and 1 male lol.

Just diff phenos i imagine

Make no assumptions by height in veg or even initial stretching, that could be just different phenos and nothing to do with whether they are male or female. Wait until they show sex or induce them to show, that's the only way to tell 100%.

Prolly just different phenotypes. Why didn't/dontcha LST it down?

When I run reg seed, my males will USUALLY(not always) shoot taller than my girls. The stretch takes place, for the most part, after they turn.
