Do Mars hydro 300w full spec led's really suck that much?

Hey guys, I bought a Mars hydro 300 w full spec led that actually runs like 140 something watts (something I didn't learn till after clicking buy now) anyways I have 2 fem ak48 veg'n under one light and plan was to buy one more when Time to flower. Now I've been reading some prett crappy reviews and I'm kinda rethinking my whole set-up. Anyone have thoughts on these lights or a better similarly priced set-up??

THEY

ARE

SHIT

You've been told this many times already. About the only thing they're good for is getting seedlings going for a couple weeks of veg and that's it.

Get a real light if you want real results. It's that simple.

For 75 bucks, you'd be better off buying a dozen 100 watt incandescent grow bulbs and running those. That's how bad the light you have is.

For about 150 bucks you can buy a decent 400 watt HPS or a good T5 fixture that will work very, very well for you.

It takes about double that to get a decent COB light.

Yeah, they pretty much suck. Not to say you can't grow under them, but the results will almost certainly be disappointing. What size is your grow space?

Oh, and pay no mind to the asshole above. He's not wrong about Mars, but his attitude is shit. There are plenty of nice people here who can give you advice without being dickwads.

I bought mine used it for 2 months or so. Now its chilling with my hps in the corner waiting for an emergency to be used or refurbished into something better.

Was gonna use ot for a spare 1.5x2 flowering spot but im getting better results from 112 watts of screw in bulbs in the same area.

The Mars will veg a 2'x2' okay, but you'll definitely want something better for flowering. That Quantum Board kit linked above will rock out a 2'x2' in flower. I have two of those kits myself. Killer lights.

Awesome man. Exactly the type of input I was looking for.. I'm gonna look into that

I had a mars 900 it drew about 525 watts at about 25% efficiency. So about 130 par watts in a 2x4. I got some decent results considering.

I did a 585 watt diy, about 50-55% efficiency. I can grow 3x 10z plants in my 2x4

If you had 4 of them and the proper parameters you could probably get a decent yield. If you're going the pre-fab route, some of the COB prefabs are decent. Not great, not mediocre, somewhere in between and YMMV. If you want the cutting edge, go DIY obviously.

Just saying.. although the QB is much better.. the cheap mars/meizhi/vipar WILL flower okay. They're not quite as useless as everyone makes out, they're just not the best out there. 1gpw cam be done with them

If you're set on buying from Amazon, check out
https://www.amazon.com/Quantum-Board-Grow-Bloom-3000K/dp/B078P484HD/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1518020586&sr=8-4&keywords=Horticulture+Lighting+Group
You can do 1-2 of those for a 2x2 space and they're actually from HLG, not some unknown vendor, so you know what you're getting.

And free 2day shipping if you have prime!

*Edit: HLGs page in case you want to check out some of the info/reviews

What are the dimensions of these in inches, it doesnt show how large the light is itself.... need to know if i can fit it in a freezer. Freezer is 19 in deep 30 in wide 50 in tall. Would this be tits with a scrog for me?

I started with 2 mars 300's,I built a light out of 10 gu10 cob spot light bulbs,The plant under this light grew 2x as fast as the plants under the mars.I will switch to screw in leds when I run out of bulbs. The screw in outperform the spot lights, and are cheaper.

HLG site says 280mm x 240mm so roughly 11" x 9.5". I'm getting a 4000k in the mail today for a 1.5' x 2' veg box and finally get rid of my Viparspectra600
