Do my plants look small?

hiya heavy j, for a first grow you are doing a lot better than I did. I will never forget that scraggly yellowing little branch I cherished so much. We all start somewhere and its good to see people knowing so much more about indoor growing than when I first started.
I've been learning a lot from experience and other people but always new things to try.
First I learnt about the importance of ventilation and extraction. Odour control, the light spectrums and the lights available a whole subject to itself, topping, lst training, lollipopping, scrog, sog, growing mediums, soil composition, coco, clay pebbles, perlite, vermiculite to more advanced ( but easier) growing methods like bubbleponic deep water cultures (not even worth it), aeroponics, aquaponics, recirculating and flood and drain, my favourite.
All of these things meant nothing to me when I first started but in time you will know what they all mean and how to do them. Cloning probably the hardest challenge to master but very rewarding and saves so much time over starting from seed.
Anyway I am rambling, back to topic.

First I must point out that I am not an avid fan of led lights. I believe up until just a couple of years ago the technology was still too inferior. I have been experimenting with led lights for 5 years and never been overly impressed. Currently trying white light Cob's for the first time and I am impressed, great healthy growth so far. As to why I don't like the old fashioned led panels apart from the really annoying purple light which makes it impossible to diagnose problems, is that they flood certain wavelengths and only those wavelengths. The plant absorbs wavelengths from 400-700nm. The viparspectra only emits 11 wavelengths. In my opinion these lights don't spread the light very well and create light hotspots in the centre with too little light reaching the outsides. The reason I am mentioning this is because one of your pictures shows clear led burning. The yellowing on the top new shoots is from the lights being too close to the plant thus creating yellowing and stunting growth. I have experienced this many times, put the led too far away and the plants start stretching, put them too close (especially 600w and up, less intense on the 300w units) and they bleach your leaves with too intense light.
Efficiency wise they are actually better than hps but they have too many flaws for my liking. Viparspectra does seem to be the best purple panel according to reviews at the moment and a friend of mine uses one, I have now tried a full spectrum cob led and won't go back. Hope you do ok with your panel, it will grow you some real nice smoke, you just have to realize it can easily burn your plants so find the right distance, also your plants will probably want a bit more magnesium than under sunlight. The browning tips on the lower leaves is a sign of a megnesium deficiency but your plants perked up so much after this that it wasn't too severe.

As to your original question, it seems I have arrived a bit late and your plants are nearly ready to be flowered. As someone else pointed out they managed to achieve a similar size after 5 weeks already. If yes that would be very impressive, however everyone has different definitions of when day 1 from seed is (varying by up to 10 days) so 5 weeks to some might be 5 weeks and 10 days to others. Also that plant looked nicely topped which makes the plant take longer to grow, to achieve that size in 5 weeks is even impressive to me, 5 weeks and 10 days more likely imo but whatever lol, the point is that it has taken you 3 weeks longer which is not the end of the world for a first grow.

The first few pictures looked like the plants had maybe received too much blue light, like you only used the vegg switch on your panel and the plants grew very compact as a result. They then stretch out nicely after that anyway which usually happens.

Hope I could give you a few ideas for the future, my motto when growing is do it nice and slow. Never make any rushed decisions or drastic changs to your plants. You are doing really well for your first go. when you switch to 12/12 for flowering give them slighly less than 12 hours of light, i go for 11 hours and 45 minutes, this makes a tiny difference, plants are 100% sure to start flowering, otherwise the buds will all be whispering away "yo, is it time yet?" "yo have we had 12 hours of darkness yet" "nah lets wait a few days to be sure"
also use both vegg and bloom switches on your light for flowering

forgot to mention as a ps: the easiest fix for a megnesium deficiency is adding a bit of epsom salt to your water. It's available at any decent pharmacy, sold as bath salts. I use up to 1 tablespoon per 10 liters to add a bit of magnesium

Yeah, let me just say, for a first run, this is excellent. I am definitely not knocking you, I am just trying to help you get accustomed to the little details. Once you can start reading leaves, you’ll maximize your growing yields. This grow is not at all bad or shit quality; you have tight node structure and healthy foliage, just trying to help you do the best you can.

That’s where I was going with it. Ca or Mg. Calcium, though, should cause small brown rust spots on it, though, and Mg manifests as yellow leaves with green veins. It’s also why I was thinking a potentially pH issue.
i'm pulling more to a Cal issue, don't see it as a Mg issue cause of the coloring of the leaves.

It's just me though

They don’t look bloated or P/K/Mg deficient, so I don’t think it’s overwatering. It’s almost like you briefly tried to flower, then revegged. Any CalMag lately?
I use to run them 18/6
Then I switched to 24/0

Tbh this is my first grow so I’m learning as I go

I germinated the seeds on December 5th and they popped in the soil approximately 2 days later so they should be right at 5 weeks. I’m doing my best with these puppies I read non stop trying to diagnose the problems but going down that list idk wth all those things are yet only thing I’ve done so far is defoliate and top/fim when I started out I was only using the blue and white lights and I had it very close which stunted the growth a lot at first than I raised it and started using all 3 lights. Your right about the coverage I’m trying g to decide what’s the best route to go on adding my second one I’m thinking of adding a 600 hps to assist with the led lighting. The only nutes I have right now are the Fox farm trio, does anyone have experience with them and could let me know which ones I should be using right now I really don’t wanna fuck them up anymore than I already have I should be transplanting all of them into 3 or 5 gallon pots as well as adding the second light so I need to figure out what’s the best set up overall I’m trying to go for a big yield

600w HPS is the best bang for your money for sure, might be a bit overkill running both. See what you think, you might be happy with this viparspectra, make up your mind after you have used it and let us know how it goes. My friend likes it.
Def make it pay for itself in saved bud first.
Also don't forget to read up on drying and curing properly. I messed up one of my last ones by drying too fast, then the bud can't cure properly - the right humidity is important... Makes for a nicer smoke.

How do you get the humidity right?

Are you using this light?
COBs, in general, are at the forefront. 200-241w of COB is 900-1200 PPFD/PAR. That’s the output of a 600w HPS. Don’t roll with LED panels, they don’t really do shit.

He suggested HLG, Timber is another good one. I’d suggest Tasty, but sadly, Rahz closed shop.

You could also buy Vero29Cs, a Meanwell Driver, a heat sink, a frame, and optionally, a fan, and assemble your own. It may be cheaper that way.

I’m going into the 6th week of flower and I’m noticing that my buds are small don’t have any size to them is this normal? If not? What should I feed them to fatten up?
